Come join us for a trench coat sew along…. we will be working our way through the Taylor Trench Coat and we would love for you to join us!
If you’re new to sew alongs, you’re in for a treat! They’re so much fun you’ll want to do them ALL! I’ll be sewing two versions of the Taylor via video. One will be very plain following the easiest options (advanced beginner level). The other will be more complex with aaallllll the options and trimmings! You can either join in live, or save the videos to watch later.
Want to join in? Here’s what to do:
- Join our sew along group – RP Sew Alongs. This is where all the videos will be posted and you’ll get personal one-on-one support.
- Once you’re in the group, grab your discount code for the Taylor pattern from the announcement post.
- Print your pattern and prep your fabric.
If you already have the Taylor Trench Coat pattern, the sew along is totally free. You just have to print your pattern, and gather your fabric and supplies.
If you don’t have your pattern yet, there’s a discount code in the sew along group so you can grab it now and get ready!

Excited to do this sew along!
Thanks for offering this!
Yes, I am ready!looking forward to making a nice coat.
Is there a plus size pattern?
Yes the Ladies patterns include sizes XXS to 5XL
I see that the patterns go up to 5x so I would say yes.
Hi Rebecca,
Can you watch the video without having the pattern – is there a separate price for this.
With thanks,
Chris
Christine you can watch the videos, no charge, without buying the pattern
Is there a male version of the cost that can be done with the sew along?
The Taylor Trench coat pattern is only available in ladies and children at the moment
Could you make this as a beginner?
The pattern is marked for Intermediate to Advanced sewistas. If you are a beginner it does depend on how quickly you can pick things up and of course the sew-along shows you how to do each step.
I have sewn many quilt tops with my machine but am not too good with clothing. I am going to try this and we shall see how it goes. Thanks for the opportunity. I think videos will help me a lot!
How much fabric is required and what type?
The fabric suggestions are on page 9 and the fabric requirements are on page 10 of the pattern.
Looking forward to trying something new
I want to join but I’m out of action for the awhile broke my wrist
Do you do a sew along every month?
I have the pattern and the raincoat fabric but i bought jersey for the lining… then realised it said to use woven. do you think it will work or do I need to go back to the drawing board for a woven?
The raincoat fabric will look perfect but I suggest you get a stable fabric for the lining as the jersey may stretch.
Thanks
