ME: *looking through a telescope* “WOW, Universe! You’re so beautiful!”
UNIVERSE: *placing hands inside black holes* “Thanks; I have pockets!”
Pockets are important. We need pockets for all the things, especially when we just don’t feel like carting a big ol’ bag around. And for the kidlets to store their treasures. This cargo pants sewing pattern is all about the pockets! And even better, the child’s version is unisex so it’s perfect for boys and girls.
The slim-fit design is both stylish and practical, and will teach you a few new techniques while sewing up some super trendy trousers.
Whoever invented pockets is a genius..
I’ve been doing some reading (we can pretend it’s research) about the history of pockets and am completely fascinated. Did you know that some form of a pocket type item has been used since around 3300 BC?! They were mostly pouches attached to belts and worn around the waist by men carrying their tools and other useful items. But ladies also had pockets for their things! The difference is that men’s pockets started being sewn into their clothing, while women’s were not and still left as hanging pouches under petticoats.
Fast forward to today and we still have a pocket problem. Ladies’ clothing has fake pockets (WHHHHYYYYY?!) or small, teeny tiny pockets (what’s the point?!). But we all love and need pockets!
Problem solved! Enter the brand-new Slim Fit Cargos sewing pattern. Yes, please! OPTIONAL pockets so they’re there if you want them and not there if all you’re after is a pair of super cool, bang-on-trend slim-fit trousers.
Make matching pairs for you and the kidlets and let them stash all their treasures (i.e. random stones and toys, sticky sweets and sticks, and tissues) in their own pockets. Keep yours for phones/ keys/ money. Or leave them empty because just having pockets is cool enough on its own!
