How do PDF/ digital patterns work? Simply download, print, and sew. You’ll need a free Adobe Acrobat reader program and any home printer (or a nearby copy shop for A0 printing). Once you’ve printed the pieces, tape or glue them together. You’ll find an easy-to-follow how-to guide inside the pattern instructions, plus support in our Facebook group.

The trim-free pattern comes in A4 or US letter printable sizes and includes full pattern pieces and a detailed tutorial to guide you every step of the way. An A0 format (pattern pieces only) is also included should you wish to have your pattern printed professionally. PDF Layers allow you to select and print only the size/s you want/ need.

    My daughter is too big for child sizes now so when i saw there was a adult unicorn cape i knew i had to do this for her. There was quite a bit of hand sewing involved as the mane was too big for my sewing machine ooops but it was all worth it to see the look on her face once it was finished.     This was such a rewarding sew! It’s not a super fast sew so leave time to complete if you are using yarn but the results are super cute!!! The wrist straps are my daughters favorite part. Instructions are clear making this project easy for all skill levels. The hardest part is choosing fabric and mane materials.

    I enjoyed making this. My granddaughter will love it. I had fun with the many options available to try to highlight creativity. Any issues I had were my own fault. I mixed a satin fabric with a knit lining but didn’t take into consideration the difference in how they would drape.

    This is a cute cape with lot of possibility! I consider myself to be an adventurous beginner (a few simple clothing items and bags are my previous sews), and this pattern was completely do-able for me. The ears and horn can be a little tricky (I had to take my time and make a few attempts), but the results are so cute!

    The only part of the pattern that was tricky was attaching the ears and horn. The unicorn cape came out lovely.

    This was an easy pattern! The only tricky part was the mane, but I didn’t choose the easiest way and my ribbons were sometimes too thin to be sewn. Lesson learned! It was easy enough that I chose to make it reversible! I love it! Instructions are well paced, the pieces fit perfectly together and the final fit and length is perfect on my 2.5 years-old! She has room to grow into, but she’s not stepping on it every two step she takes.

    The most fun thing about this pattern is that it can be as simple or complicated as you want to make it. The basic cape is incredibly easy to make, but I used some hand-sewing skills as well and putting the mane together was definitely a labor of love. This pattern really gave me an opportunity to get creative with my daughter and make something that was just for her.

    I loved this pattern. I did make my mane a little thick and broke 2 needles by it came out beautiful. My daughter measured at the over lap of the 2 sizes and did the bigger size.

    The structure of the cape was easy to sew. The decorative bits like the horn, mane, eyes and ears were fiddly and alot of fun to add. I however over did the wooly mane and found it difficult to hand sew on. The hot glue gun was a saver for this. Overall it was a great sew and alot of magical fun.

    I absolutely love the Unicorn Cape and the possibility to make it as basic or as pimped as you want. The pattern is very well explained and illustrated. The basic pattern is very easy for a beginner. Maybe it would be a possibility to add a cut file for cutting machines like silhouette cameo (or other) for the eyes/nose/birthmark.

    Fun sew, my daughter really loves her cape. Made some minor mistakes along the way, like sewing two parts together at the wrong place… my advice would be to really spread out the parts and matching each sides properly.. I ended up with two of the same sides of the cape; I think it was the lack of coffee that didn’t help 🙂 The instructions are clear, lots and lots of option to make this cape one of a kind!

    I originally made this for me to wear to my 3rd grader’s Halloween class party. When I finished it, my 7th grader loved it some much she claimed it for her own. This is a great pattern to customize to your taste and use your creativity. The instructions are clear and well written.

    A lovely fun pattern, took my time with it as I wanted to get all the little details correct. I had fun with it but I found it quite fiddly as I chose to do quite a full mane. I think the option to put the mane on with Velcro would be useful to allow the cape to be washed if needed. This was my first time lining anything and I was pleased with how it turned out, although I made the mistake of using satin lining which was fiddly, I should have used cotton. I see this as a really versatile pattern with Halloween and Christmas looming, lots of options to make witches/elf etc ?.

    The unicorn cape–although in my case a “horsie cape”–was a fun sew to make for my 3 year old daughter. The sewing of the cape itself is pretty straightforward, but there is lots of freedom to add creative embellishments with the mane, ears, horn, and other decorative details. My daughter had a lot of fun “helping” me with this sewing project by picking the fabrics and ribbons for her cape and this is a great addition to her dress up bin!

    Ok so overall this pattern is super cute! I’ll be honest at first I wasn’t a huge fan of the method for attaching the mane but OMG the end result was gorgeous so I completely get it now! Also I really love the wrist elastic I never would of thought to add that but it’s a really great feature. (The elastic measurement was absolutely spot on for her wrists too!) overall super cute and 10/10 will make again!
