This was way easier than I expected. I am really pleased with how it turned out. Loved the detailed instructions and have already cut out one more to sew up!
Frauke Schiller –
I sewed the long gathered option without zip and I really like the result, it fits very good and looks great. Thanks to some good advices how to deal with slippy swim fabric, fix the elastic or turn around the strap it is very easy to follow the instructions. Without preparing the pattern it took me about 2 hours from cutting to finish.
Angel Pooley –
My first swimsuit and I’m so pleased. Instructions were spot on and an option for everyone!! Thinking of doing a basic thong to match as well so it can be used on holiday for tanning or this version for swimming in the gym
Bracken Thompson –
I love love love this pattern. Its just brilliant! I have waited for years to find a pattern like this. As a 90s girl who hates real bras, I intend to make loads of the top to use as bralets in various fabrics. I love the top so much I wore it as underwear and had to wash it by the time I had made the bottoms. Its made in swimwear fabric with a lightweight stretch lining fabric. This is just what I have been looking for for years. Well done and thank you. The only thing wrong with this is my sewing where I should have pattern matched my bats. I also had a problem getting white or clear elastic so had to use what I have which is slightly too wide and black but it worked anyway.
Nicole Cox –
Overall, I really like the way it turned out. I doubt that I will wear it as a swimsuit, However….this top will be amazing for yoga! I would have liked an explanation of the purpose of the elastic for the neck and arms so that if I had to substitute or if the fabric was one that has great elasticity I would know just how important the elastic is to the overall finished project.

I can’t believe I made swimmers! I love everything about them. They fit perfectly, look great and I didn’t have to try them on at a shop because I MADE them! I never thought that making swimmers was an option and now I’m pretty sure I’m never going to buy swimmers from a shop again.
Leanne Molini –
The Ladies Ruched Swimsuit are a must, rise bottoms fit like a glove with no rolling when you move. The top gathers up just nicely.
Adelle Pears –
This swimsuit is absolutely gorgeous and so comfortable. The ruched option makes it very flattering and adds a little challenge to the project. The instructions and pattern as always are excellent!
Emily Anderson –
This is an easy to follow pattern! It was my first time making a swim suit, and the directions were very clear and thorough. I do wish that there was an option to add some padded cups, even if it was just an extra lining that you can slide them into.
Frauke Schiller –
It took me about 2 hours to sew this bottom from cutting until finish without preparing the pattern and I think that is quite okay. It is very easy to follow the instructions. I think it might be a little bit tricky for beginners to fix the elastic and work with sometimes slippy swim fabrics but with courage and patience – and of course some very good tips from Rebecca Page – it is definitely worth the effort. It fits very good and I like the style of the plain high waist bottoms.
Emma Bertilsson –
Fun swimsuit pattern, I will make more of them
Annika Ashfield –
I love the top for this pattern. The strap takes some time if you don’t have a good tool to help flip it but it is worth it. My friends actually commented that it could easily double as a crop top when wanted.
The bottoms I struggled a bit with but I think this was me overestimating my measurements. I followed the measurement chart but I think I shouldv’e gone down to a straight 3Xl with no grading (I will hopefully get to do this over the summer and see)
I found it a bit confusing when working with the elastic as it says to hold taut but not stretch but then I felt sometimes that the elastic didn’t fit without stretching. “
Alejandra Fonseca –
It is easy to follow. As a beginner sewer I think that working with Lycra or swimwear is a bit intermediate but that gave me the challenge. The size is accurate and will definitely be making more of these. Thank you xx
Jane Whicheloe –
Great pattern. First time I have done an FBA and it worked well. Good clear instructions with lots of options
Nadine Simard –
This is a great pattern to get you started with swim wear. Details instructions are included.
Jocie Goldman –
Overall, great pattern! I love the way the back of the top looks. I think it would be helpful to suggest a length of the elastic to cut for the bottom of the bodice instead of cutting it the length of the bottom of the bodice. I may not have held mine taut enough when measuring, but it ended up being too big the first time I cut it.
Maja Rus –
Great pattern, lots of options to chose from 🙂
Amanda Cunningham –
This is a cute swimsuit. A few spots were tricky but in the end they came out beautifully. I love the option of the ruched side on the top which helps minimize mom tums. Excited to look cute at the beach this summer!
Lisa Corriveau –
This swimsuit was the first I’ve ever made & it was quite easy to sew! I was able to make it in just a few hours. It fits well & I can see it being a favourite for the pool & the beach.
Taiko Karen Rai –
A lovely sew! Thick enough to stay warm and have a little coverage. Wraps the body great. I love that there is a high rise or mid rise as the high rise holds in my postpartum belly much nicer. Really love how the straps connect to the back. Very comfortable.
Vicky Hughes –
Loved making this top! My first time sewing with swim, the pattern was so easy to follow & the finished product is such a flattering fit!
Roseanna Lacas –
I LOVE this swimsuit. I made it in a solid yellow swim knit so I can mix and match with another two piece I have and I’m so happy I did. The instructions were clear except for two parts: My brain filled in the extra parts because I know how to sew a zipper but I realized the order of operations in trimming and sewing the zipper were wrong. Also, at one point the length for the waist elastic for the crop top is listed as shorter than the waist opening but then elsewhere it says to cut approximately the length of the waist opening. I went with the shorter option. I did have a problem with the back ruching standing up at the waistband but that may have been a sewing error on my part. When I showed my mom this suit she commented “I love how it covers everything well while still being a crop top” and I agree! I tested this suit out on a little fishing/swimming expo with my sister and was amazed at the stay-put-ability. I am confident that this suit will keep me covered while still make me look smokin!
Sarah Hopkins –
I loved this pattern, i made the top first in a scuba just to test the pattern and it makes a great top. Feeling braver I tried with swim fabric whixh is definitely harder which is why I’ve rated it intermediate and not beginner. The elastic was my least favourite part. The swim top is a good fit, but yet to test it in water.
Amanda Schildmeier –
This is a really cute swimsuit and if leaving out the zipper very quick to sew! The ruched bottoms are very flattering!
Pamela Stump –
I made the top and bottom out of coordinating fabrics for a cute tankini look. Both were fairly quick to sew and look nice when done.
Emma Polley –
I love this Two Piece so much! It’s a flattering fit with a gorgeous high back. The sew itself was fairly easy, I can see myself making a few more of these in my favourite prints!
Jose Vernooy Winkel –
This is a fun make, when you’re a sewing newbie with swim! You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you’d like.
I do recommend that you read the instructions well before starting, especially the part for the zipper, as you’ll be sewing it in between the outer layer and the lining. To get everything neatly done its a bit fiddly but you can do it, promise!
I’m so happy with the high waisted bottom, it is not gonna be my only one, it’s such a flattering bottom! I love it!
Nathalie Dene –
First swimsuit I ever made for myself, and I am so happy for taking on this challenge! The fit is great, it looks beautiful, my breasts get the support they need, and it was not as difficult to sew as I anticipated. More swimsuits will definitly follow!
Leah McGrath –
This suit makes me feel amazing! I haven’t worn a two piece in over 10 years and I’ve never sewn swim before so I wasn’t sure this was the pattern for me, but it fits really well and feels secure, holding in that mummy tummy great. I feel really confident when I’m wearing it and the pattern was super intuitive.
Jennifer Lichak –
This is a great swim suit! High waisted or regular, bikini or tankini! It fits well, instructions are clear and it is flattering as well.
Maja Rus –
Awesome pattern, now me and my daugher have new super fitting swims 🙂
