This wonderfully full and fabulously twirly childrens tutu skirt sewing pattern is tutu cute to handle! It’s a brilliant addition to the dress up box. It also makes a gorgeously frilly party skirt, and even has a more relaxed version for every day wearing!
This three-tiered tutu skirt is made up entirely of gathered rectangles and magic! Plus, there’s an optional bow to add even more charm to an already darling garment!
Make up the standard full option with a light- to medium-weight woven fabric for a beautifully flouncy skirt that is fantastic for summer sunshine, and equally marvelous worn in winter over tights.
Add all the ruffles and extras to the super full option, and style your kidlet in the coolest tulle skirt around, paired with a comfy tee, sneakers, and Kingston denim jacket!

Sizes – Pattern includes children’s sizes newborn to 12 years. See the size chart in the gallery above.
Options – Two fullness preferences (full and super full), optional lining, bow, and ruffle detailing
Ideas – Add some battery-operated fairy lights to the tulle layers for the most enchanting dress up skirt ever! Twinkly lights plus a wand and crown = delightful!
Fabrics – The standard full skirt and the optional lining are suitable for any light- to medium-weight wovens, and lace or trim for the optional ruffles.
The top tier and lining of the super full skirt need to be a light- to medium-weight woven fabric, while the two bottom tiers and the optional ruffle are suitable for very lightweight wovens such as soft tulle and chiffon only.
When you are selecting which version you wish to do, please note, there is a LOT of tulle in the super full version. It is absolutely stunning, but it is not for the faint hearted!
If you use a fabric with a print or nap such as velvet, remember to cut all pieces in the same direction and to allow extra fabric for this.
See the fabric requirements in the gallery above for yardage. A serger/ overlocker is optional but NOT required.
