- All fabrics should be non-stretch, woven fabrics. Very thick fabrics are not recommended as it can make the sewing through multiple layers very difficult.
- Main Fabric - 0.75 yards will be sufficient. We recommend tweed, home décor fabrics, canvas, and more for the outside of the bag.
- Lining Fabric - 0.75 yards will be sufficient. We recommend something lighter weight than the outer fabric, a silk taffeta, quilting cotton, or crepe.
- Tie Fabric - 1 yard will be sufficient. This can be the same fabric as your lining. We recommend something lighter than the outer fabric, a silk taffeta, quilting cotton, or crepe. If you choose a very lightweight fabric, additional interfacing is recommended for one side of each Tie.
- Magnetic Snap - 1x 3/4 - 1 inch wide
- Interfacing - 2 yards of 20 inch wide high loft fusible fleece, plus additional as needed depending on your Tie fabric choices.

This bag pattern is a great weekend sew and would be perfect for holiday gifts. I used heavier fabrics so it has nice weight and structure but is still the floppy kind of bag I like. I think I would use it more with a knot tie instead of the bow with the heaver fabric, but the next one I make will be with lighter weight fabrics so I can make a cuter bow!

This is an easy weekend project, good for using remnants.

I love this bag, the idea of the bow as a shoulder belt is really classy when performed in the right fabric. I found the notches to make the pleats confusing, there are too many notches, three per pattern piece would be enough.

Tie shoulder handbag is such a fast and easy sew. Make it for daily trip to grocery store, or for fancy occasion using different fabric. It can hold a lot of stuff.

Pattern is beginner friendly. Instructions are easy to read and pattern is clearly marked. This is a very roomy bag with just the right size and shape for any occasion. I will definitely be making more of these bags.

A fast pattern to sew that gives you a handbag different from many others. Just be a little careful in those parts that have many layers of fabric, especially if you’ve chosen a thicker one. My favorite part is the ties, that make this bag special.
