Main Fabric - You will need any light or medium weight woven (non-stretch) fabric for this blouse. However, your fabric choice will be critical in how the garment fits and moves so please choose with the end look you are wanting in mind:
- A light weight woven such as a chiffon, organza, or georgette will be billowy and floaty looking.
- A light to mid weight woven such as a cotton lawn, cotton voile, silk, rayon, silk crepe, crepe de chine, taffeta or silk satin will drape.
Lining Fabric – It needs to be a light to medium weight woven fabric. Suitable fabrics include Habotai (silk or polyester), poly anti-static lining, cotton, quilting cotton, and satin.
OPTIONAL Interlining - Our favorite fabric for this is Coutil, but you can use a medium-weight woven with a little give such as twill, gabardine drill, or other similar weight fabrics. You can use Interfacing as an alternative to Interlining.

“Instructions were great because of how well the pattern is drafted… with thoughtful photos with helpful notes throughout. Overall, I’m a big fan because it’s very perfect for a variety of fabrics and as many RP patterns gives you a couple of options which cover all tastes… I would recommend because the pattern is very on trend and the info given throughout the instructions are perfect for beginners looking to gain more skills..”

Nat Laskey –
Nice pattern, fairly straightforward, and results in a gorgeous blouse. Nice to have the option of high or v neck, next time I will try the high option.
Kelly Tuttle –
My Open Back top looks just lovely and will make a great addition to my closet. Now I really want to make one in lace, for a holiday inspired top for Christmas.
Heather Luben –
This is an elegant blouse with just enough challenge to make it fun! I made the high neck version, and I love how the wide waist and gathered bodice flatter. The long cuffs and many buttons add a degree of sophistication and fun, and an old-fashioned hint. Easy to follow directions, and a nice balance of simple and detail.
Stephanie Carnovale –
If you are looking for a wow top this is it!!!! Made this up for my daughter and she loves wearing it, gets so many compliments. The cuff detailing is a little tricky but the instructions and photos were great.
Aimee Lim –
This is really a classy and sexy blouse, love the cuffs and sleeves details. The bow added a little playfulness.
Amy Jo Kaczenski –
So beautiful! Lovely addition to any wardrobe and easy to modify for even more options!!
Glo Ban –
Instructions were great because of how well the pattern is drafted so gathering was such a breeze (FYI, I hate gathering) and making the rouleau loops was well described and easy to make, place and sew with thoughtful photos with helpful notes throughout.
Overall, I’m a big fan because it’s very perfect for a variety of fabrics (i would love to try it in a sheer), and as many RP patterns gives you a couple of options which cover all tastes.
I will definitely sew it again because I’d love to hack it into a dress (add a skirt), and I would recommend because the pattern is very on trend and the info given throughout the instructions are perfect for beginners looking to gain more skills.
Jasmine Chandler –
This was a fun and easy pattern. I would say to make the visual images a little clearer.
Carrie-Ann –
I enjoyed this sew but would put a strap across shoulders on V neck opened back shirt
Franchesca Delgado –
I love the blouse. I did struggle a bit in some parts of the instructions, for example, the cuffs. And then I got lost attaching the ties as to which direction was up, and ended with one tie upside down. Otherwise, the pattern is so beautiful it was worth every hour I spent on it.
Melinda Cornwall –
What an amazing little top! I love how I can wear it with jeans to dress it down, or pop on a pencil skirt and heels for a night on the town! The sleeves are to die for. I enjoyed this sew so much.
Michelle Mason –
I made the V neck version in a sheer chiffon, love the finished preject and it makes me feel fancy and I can’t wait until I am able to go out for a meal wearing this feeling fabulous.
Lore Brison Hill –
Very cute. She loves the style. She could feel a little slipping at the shoulders but not much. I do think that it is shorter than intended. But a perfect length for her.
Karen Greenhalgh –
This is my favourite new blouse. I love the vintage look of the billowing sleeves and high neck but with the open back! Fits perfectly and great instructions meant it came together beautifully
Maja Rus –
Interesting pattern, nice outcome. I feel like princess while wearing this blouse 🙂
Rachel Loper –
A lovely modern shirt with a vintage vibe. It’s a lot of steps, but taking it one step at a time did the trick.
Shauna Richards –
I LOVE this pattern! It’s so chic and I adore the vintage look. The waistband tie is extremely flattering! Personally I love history bounding and this pattern gave me a nice edwardian feel while still giving it a modern twist. I’ll absolutely be making this pattern again!
Heidi Gray –
I LOVED this sew. While a little fiddly, the instructions were clear and made the whole sew easy and enjoyable…and the outcome is beautiful! I’m looking forward to making more.
Victoria Fenner –
This is a very on-trend pattern! I’ve hacked it to be sleeveless for our summer and I just love it! A relatively easy sew with some fun elements.
Sarah Reddan –
I love the finished top. I have never made something for myself with so much gathering, but love the finished result.
Victoria Fenner –
This is a very on-trend pattern! I’ve hacked it to be sleeveless for our summer and I just love it! A relatively easy sew with some fun elements.
Salomé Gonçalves –
This blouse looks amazing once finished, but it gets tricky in some parts. Fabric choice matters A LOT in this pattern, mainly due to the drape but also the difficulty of working with some fabrics.
