Love this pattern; it’s such a classic style. Very Marilyn! The instructions are brilliant which helps you with the harder things such as invisable zipper and pleats.
Beth Partain –
I seriously can’t wait for warm weather to wear this dress. I love it!
Sarah Miller –
I adore this pattern! I love the fit! It was an easy sew for me that could easily be sewn up in a few afternoon sessions! I absolutely love it and plan to make many more of these for my summer wardrobe! I found the fit to be perfect and am in a bodice a-d and I felt that it held nicely with no bra and did not feel that I would have to worry about flashing anyone. Also, it has huge pockets! I loved this pattern and I think anyone could make this if they just take their time!
LIsa Giorcelli –
This is such a gorgeous dress! The pleat detail at the bust is lovely, and with clear instructions is simple to construct and the Hong Kong finish on the zipper is a beautiful finishing touch.
Jemma Tredinnick –
This pattern is not as complicated as it looks and it makes a gorgeous dress. I made the small size, with pockets, and it fitted perfectly without any adjustments needed except for length as I’m a shorty. The actual sewing was explained clearly and although there are a lot of steps nothing is particularly complicated if you just follow the instructions step by step. Doing the pockets does add an extra layer of complication but is easily doable. I will most definitely be making this dress again

This is such a fun pattern to sew! It’s flirty cut is still modest, and lends itself to a variety of fabric choices. I used a heavier fabric (quarantine stash raid!) but am already dreaming of drape-y ones! Horsehair braid on the hem is an option to make the skirt more flouncy, and of course, a perfect dress needs pockets too! The pockets blend in so well that I forgot to take pictures of them when I got pictures and had to put it back on to model those! I see many more of these in my summer wardrobe!
Debbie Groves –
Its a lovely dress. I found the bust area a bit roomy for my B cup so may have to find an appropriate underwear to help me out in that area. Other than that its an awesome dress with tonnes of possibilities based on fabric choices.

Retro is back in style with this beautiful Marilyn Dress! This dress is fitted at the waist and then flares into a beautiful skirt for that extra wow factor. It is so comfortable and makes the perfect summer dress. Dress it up or dress it down, this needs to be in your closet now! Absolutely beautiful!

Usually as a M in RP patterns, I was shocked to discover that using under bust measurements made me XS!!! I used cotton drill, which may be slightly too heavy for the pattern at certain points eg. where multiple layers and seams cross. I would definitely make this again but with a lighter cotton or even something with drape for a more relaxed feel for those lovely summer days
Becky Gant Burns –
I love this dress pattern. There were a few hitches but they worked out well enough. My granddaughter’s measurements fit the XS size. The finished dress matched the finished measurements listed. I really wanted this fabric and, thankfully, I had enough fabric to match the stripes, but it really wasn’t that much extra. Since the fabric is seersucker and a little thin,, I used a thin white muslin to line the skirt. Thank you.

The finished product is something that I’ve imagined in my head for years and finally have it in my hands. The pattern was easy to follow, and resulted in a great dress. However, due to the nature of a halter top intended to support the girls, and me needing to blend sizes, it required a couple of muslins to get the fit spot on. The great thing is that the RP team is so helpful with fitting advice! It’s a style I thought it never be comfortable wearing, but it fits so well now I am completely at ease and feel stunning.

I love the Marilyn, such a versatile pattern, great fit options & nice instructions to follow. So happy with the finished dress, and it has pockets!!
Darlene Perry –
Get ready to feel beautiful! The Marilyn is coy, sweet and very sexy! Sew this one up for those summer gatherings and all eyes will be on you.
Alexandria Phillip –
I was thrilled to have a woven pattern to try this month as I used to sew only woven garments and they were my first loves. This dress is beautiful and flattering and surprisingly easy to construct. The hardest part is the pleats and there was a super helpful video! Would definitely recommend this pattern to anyone wanting to try out a woven pattern.
Kelly Tuttle –
Beautiful dress! Very classy looking. Although I don’t think this is an easy sew, following along with the detailed instructions and clear pictures, I was able to sew it up with no issues!
Luana Furlanetto –
The Marilyn is a beautiful pattern! I really love the design of it! It wasn’t super easy, and I think that it’s because of my fabric choice (thicker but similar to crepe). However, I love the result and all the cute details. I’m thinking about making another one with a light cotton.
Leah McGrath –

True to size pattern. Instructions easy to follow. No issues
Genevieve Lynne Grossmann –
This is truly a beautiful pattern. I really had trouble with my pleats but I feel this was entirely my fault. The video was great is helping. I absolutely love the end product.
Victoria Fenner –
This was one of my toughest makes so far, however that was due to the beautiful design rather than complexity of the pattern. Once again, the instructions were clear and easy to follow, and by breaking it down into such small steps, you really get a handle on the techniques quickly. I love how the bodice fits well. This dress will look lovely paired with a trench coat in winter, and on its own in summer!
Tiffany Amos –

Nice dress, looks great on. Had to make several fitting adjustments on the toile but achieved a great fitted dress which my daughter loves.
Daph Né Geeraerd –
The size is way to big! It’s 3 sizes to big. But it fits my mom great! She really loves it! It’s an easy sew and a great summer dress!!!
