Description

The Taylor Trench is the ultimate ladies trench coat pattern. It’s got the wow factor and more. The different options you choose will change the difficulty level. The welt pockets are an intermediate to advanced level sew. They are quite fiddly, but ever so satisfying! The patch pockets are far simpler and more of a beginner to advanced beginner level technique. The rest of it is totally doable by an advanced/adventurous beginner. It’s a long but incredibly satisfying sew. You’ll be amazed you made it at the end and so so proud of the finished trench. The details are heirloom quality. It’s a coat you’ll keep (and wear!) for literally years to come.

This is the ladies version but it’s also available as a matching dolls and childs patterns so you can do matching “Mommy and Me” sets! Get all versions as a bundle here.

Firstly, can I say if you are unsure whether you can manage this pattern, the instructions are so well laid out you will be able to do it. Never did I think I could complete something as difficult or challenging as this, but boy I loved making it.

This pattern is not near as complicated as it looks. It was so much fun to watch come together and you can’t help but be proud of the result! It will definitely get compliments!!

I am glad that I made this, even though it scared me. I am getting “Wows” all around and my kids are wanting their own! (Not till after Christmas sewing!!!) Go ahead! Give it a try!!

You will be on a permanent high when you finish this pattern. The pattern and instructions are bang on. The finish is high end couture. The pattern is worth every button, fabric and time. A winner of a pattern.

The Taylor trench is my favourite coat at the moment. I confess that I was a bit scared of all the pattern pieces and of the welt pockets, but it couldn’t have been easier. The pattern itself is pretty straight forward and instructions are very detailed. I love how this coat can be made with different fabrics for completely different looks. I made mine with shank buttons and some added decorative stitches in the neck and belt. It’s a must pattern in any pattern stash.

I really enjoyed putting this together. I did a small full bust adjustment and used wool so it was a bit heavier than the pattern suggested but it still worked great. The instructions and on line video tutorials helped a lot. I would prefer that the pattern instructions refer to the pattern piece by number rather than name so I can be certain I am using the correct piece. Especially in a pettern like this where you have fabric, facing and lining pieces. But it all went together beautifully and I am already working on a second version.
