Summertime… and the livin’ is easy! And breezy and relaxing and wonderful! Especially in me-made swimwear. This ladies swimsuit sewing pattern is all about lovely, shaped lines, a beautiful, flattering fit, and summer comfort!

The Savannah Swimsuit has shaped cups for extra support and the perfect fit, a slightly higher back and shoulder straps that meet in the middle, two optional cross back straps for even more visual interest, a sculpting waist seam, and an optional skirt for extra coverage.

This is a piece of summer paradise!

Gallery – See images from Instagram below. Or view our full tester gallery on our Facebook Page here: The Savannah Swimsuit

Skill Level – Perfect for advanced-beginner sewistas.

Sizes – Pattern includes ladies’ sizes XXS to 5XL! See the size chart in the gallery above.

Options – Optional skirt, and two optional cross-back straps for added visual interest.

Ideas – Hack the back straps to be a halter for a different look, and hack the optional skirt to have an elasticated waist so it is detachable!

Fabrics –The main fabric of this swimsuit must be 4-way stretch knit with a 40-50 % stretch to create a snug fit. Lycra gives extra stretch and has excellent recovery. Great choices are nylon lycra or jersey polyester lycra. Increasing the amount of lycra/ elastine will provide a tighter, more compression feel to the fit.

The lining fabric of this swimsuit should be typically similar to swim fabrics. They are often a little lighter in weight and have more stretch – a good example is halenka lining which is soft and stretchy, however it can be transparent. You can also use a regular swim fabric instead of a swim lining (as shown throughout the tutorial), as this offers more support.

If you use a fabric with a print remember to cut all pieces in the same direction and to allow extra fabric for this.

See the fabric requirements in the gallery above for yardage. A serger/ overlocker is optional but NOT required.

Format – This trim-free pattern is a downloadable PDF and comes in A4 or US letter printable sizes. An A0 format (pattern pieces only) is also included should you wish to have your pattern printed professionally. PDF Layers allow you to select and print only the size/s you want.
