Once again I found the pattern to be easy to follow and the instructions very clear. A padded gilet is something I have been wanting to make for a long time but never summoned up the courage to start, so I am really pleased with how this garment turned out. Love it!

I really enjoyed this pattern. It was intimidating at first, but the directions were so detailed and really helped me work through the vest easily. I do not regularly sew with woven material but this project gave me a lot of confidence as I got to try a lot of new skills!

The Riley vest is a versatile pattern. It’s a detailed project with lots of pattern pieces but the great instructions result in a very professionally finished vest. This is not a quick project but a very satisfying sew. I can’t wait to make another in different fabric for a different season.

The Riley vest is really a pattern where you can let your creativity run a little wild. With a few personal adjustments you can make tons of unique vests! But even straight up following the instructions you get a wonderful and useful piece of outerwear. I can’t wait for the spring and I know there will be more made come fall.

This vest was so much fun to make. It came together quickly and looks great. It was a fun opportunity to try out some new skills like quilting, welt pockets and separating zippers. Rebecca has included even included thoughts on how to adjust the pattern to the level of warmth you desire! It was a pleasure to put this garment together and I have quite a few plans for more

The Riley Vest is a classic style vest and a professional looking finished product. I love how the directions are very detailed and walk you carefully through each step. The double welt pockets, snap on hood and the full lining add a nice level of detail to create a polished look. I am very happy with my Riley Vest!

I enjoy making this pattern. It wasnt the easiest but the instructions are great. So you feel like zippers are something you dont like to use in a project this is the perfect project to try doing it. Everything came together to nicely. I highly recommend this pattern.
Hannah Goulter –
I actually really enjoyed making this pattern, I think the quilting was fun as it’s something I hadn’t done before. While there were a lot of pattern pieces to work with I step found it a reasonably easy sew. Great instructions
Carrie Wilson –

Kerry Wallman –
Love this pattern. I love the quilting look and the options for hood and pockets. It’s definjtely a pattern you need to read through thoroughly first before diving in. Fit was great!
Kendra Quincy Knauf –
Vests are the perfect in-between weather item and I love them! This pattern takes patience and I loved sewing it. Besides feeling like a rockstar with the welt pockets and zipper guard (two tasks I learned for this pattern), I loved selecting a cozy flannel fabric to fit my style and the season. I have a feeling this will become a staple in my wardrobe in the future!
Rebekah Homer –
“Wow! Wow! I am just blown away by my result with this pattern! I don’t think I can gush enough. I decided to try this pattern on a whim because I had some fabric that I thought would work great with it. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so accomplished as a sewist. It looks so professional. I was also so pleased with the fit- which was spot on.
Ok, toning down my excitement. This pattern really isn’t that complicated to put together. I recommend using pieces of tape to label each piece (there are a few, and I didn’t want to get confused). But none of the techniques are crazy advanced, and could be found in most garment sewing. There is great information and tip for choosing fabric, how to quilt the jacket, and generally deciding what you’re wanting. Then the vest comes together fairly easily- though it is time consuming. The welt pockets were simple to do, and the zipper easy to install with the directions. I expected trouble and difficulty, but the only difficulty I had was keeping my seam allowance consistent with a fluffy lining and slippery outer fabric lol. I used nylon ripstop outer, and a sherpa fleece lining, and I love it. I want to make a lighter weight one with flannel, and I know it will come together more easily and a bit quicker than my first.
This really is a great pattern, my only wish is that there was a sleeved version so I could make an awesome winter coat :).”
Adelle Pears –
I am in love with this vest. The options for personalisation are endless with the quilting. As always the instructions are brilliant and guide you through the make. I’m going to be spending a bit of time trying to find a sleeve pattern to add on!
Laura Stephen –
A cute vest that has been getting rave reviews for everyone who sees it! It was a good fit and a straightforward sew, where I also learned how to make welt pockets, which was easier than expected. I’ve already picked up the adult pattern and am on the hunt for the perfect fabric.
Frieda Flavianu –
After making one for my daughter, I just had to make one for myself. What perfect pattern. I love the removable hood. It makes the vest versatile. I will definitely be making more of this.
