Description

Sexy, sleek, elegant, flattering, AND comfortable, Peggy is a simple ladies knit pencil skirt pattern designed specifically with knit fabrics in mind.

Three different length options (mini, knee, and midi), two different fit options (bodycon and traditional pencil skirt) a walking vent or regular back seam, no zips or other fastenings, and an over-the-hips pull on fit result in a quick and easy sew.

Peggy can be dressed down with a favourite tee, sneakers and a jacket (give Kingston a go). Or dressed up with heels, and a more formal top (think Brielle) for the office or a smarter event such as a wedding. Layered over tights and boots, she’ll look incredible in winter! Her tapered side seams are flattering and create that slim, long-line look.

This sewing pattern is perfect for beginner sewistas. A slight negative ease encourages the finished product to stay put, even with a bit of stretching.

NOTE – If you’ve already got our Dreamy Drape Add On, this uses the same simple construction and has similar drafting, but it’s much slimmer fitting. The tapered side seams give it a newer tailored and sexy, sleek look!

This trim-free pattern is a downloadable PDF and comes in A4 or US letter printable sizes. An A0 format (pattern pieces only) is also included should you wish to have your pattern printed professionally. PDF Layers allow you to select and print only the size/s you want.

This pattern is suitable for stretch knits only. It is not suitable for wovens. A serger/ overlocker is optional but NOT required.

Oh my goodness! You need the Peggy Pencil skirt. This is a super fast but so very well thought out skirt. With darting in the back to help your assets look their best, a walking vent to help keep you moving and a yoga waist band for maximum comfort. With 3 lengths to choose from this skirt can be for a nice evening out, doing mom errands and even the work place!

At first I was skeptical about adding back darts to a knit item, but this is the best fitting knit skirt I have ever made. I contribute part of that to the back darts 🙂 Quick and easy make with very clear instructions. The Peggy skirt will be one of your best fitting knit pencil skirts. Oh….and no zippers 😀

“This was such a quick and easy sew! Would be a great one to learn about using an overlocker/serger as most of it can be done on that machine.

  23. Karla Holmes

This pattern was so easy and quick! At first, I was hesitant to make this because I am scared of fitted skirts. Also, I have 2 little boys who likes to run and be chased by their momma. But I am so glad I tried it because the results are super awesome and I love it so much. Its very flattering and comfortable for a pencil skirt! So if you have 30 minutes of your time thinking of what to make this is it! From printing to taping until the hem is made, it only took me 30 minutes no joke! Try it you wont regret it!

  24. Ellen Valarida

  27. Ruthann Jagge (verified owner)

Deceptively simple design with couture-quality results! I started with a size a bit larger and made one then, with the easy options available in every size, I graded it to fit perfectly for my waist to hip ratio! I used a liverpool knit and loved it so much that I also did one in a scuba knit and added a power-knit liner in both so no Spanx needed! I now have THE most perfect and elegant “throw and go” skirts and could not be more delighted with the results! This was my first RP pattern sewn for myself and will be excited to do more!

  28. Lisa Lazenby

I’m so pleased with the fit of this skirt as well as how easy it was to sew it up! The waistband is very comfortable and the back darts made for such a nice shape. It’s a simple pattern with a beautiful outcome.
