How can one pattern be so versatile that it takes you from pyjamas to boardroom? Fabric choice!

The high rise, loose fitting pants with a dropped crotch, slight gathering, deep cuffs, and pocket detailing can be made in the most deliciously soft and squishy knits for the ideal duvet day apparel. Skill Level – Beginner

Sizes – Pattern includes ladies’ sizes XXS to 5XL. See the size chart in the gallery above.

Options – Ribbed detailing on pockets

Ideas – Consider leaving off the pockets for a more streamlined look for smarter wear

Fabrics – Suitable for almost any weight knit fabric with a minimum of 30% stretch. Best results and fit will be achieved with a medium-weight fabric. Great examples are sweater knits, medium-weight jersey, cotton lycra, viscose elastine, ponte, scuba, cotton interlock, stretch velour, and stretch French terry. A lighter weight fabric will fit a bit looser and blouson over the cuff more. Do not use a woven fabric.

For the waistband, pockets, and cuffs you’ll need ribbing or fabric with at least a 50% stretch with a good recovery. To check if your fabric has the right stretch, hold a piece up to a ruler, pull it along the stretch and see if it stretches at least 1.5 times its length.

See the fabric requirements in the gallery above for yardage. A serger/ overlocker is optional but NOT required.

Format – This trim-free pattern is a downloadable PDF and comes in A4 or US letter printable sizes. An A0 format (pattern pieces only) is also included should you wish to have your pattern printed professionally. PDF Layers allow you to select and print only the size/s you want.

  1. Marie Biswell

So comfy! So easy to make and the pockets are perfect!

  2. Michelle Talaski

Quick and easy pattern – pattern itself went together very well. I did personally have to adjust for petite height and my advice to anyone else would be to take some off of the legs AND off of the cuffs (just take the same amount off the top and bottom cuff area). Other then a height issue, the instructions were clear and easy to follow and the finished garment came out as expected.

  3. Paige Pederzani

I stitched this up because I wanted a pair of comfy pants that I could translate from lounging to working. I find them easy to dress up or down and love the different looks I can get when I cuff the legs. The pattern was very easy to follow and everything fit together nicely. The ribbing I used had very good recovery but I found I still needed the additional elastic in the waistband to keep them up near my waist. I like how high the waist is on these!

  4. Kelsey Jean

I definitely stepped outside of my comfort zone with sewing pants (always the pants!) and I’m glad I did. The Brooklyn Joggers are an easy sew and are very comfortable. I don’t personally care for the bottom cuff so I might omit that together on a future pair but other than that I love them!

  5. Cara Girven

This is a great jogger pattern! I’ve tried other joggers in the past, but they never fit right. These go together so easily, and I love how the pocket is constructed…it seems to take out bulk in the thigh area, which is great, as I don’t need any additional bulk there! The tall cuff is another fun feature. The pattern is well drafted, and the instructions take you through it step-by-step, so a beginner could easily make these pants.

  6. Nicci Farrugia

This was my first time making pants so I was a little nervous, although I needn’t have been as the pattern was really easy to follow! I made a pair for both my 4yo son and 2yo daughter, I sized up for my daughter as I figure she’ll have a growth spurt soon but in hindsight I would have made the correct size as it is a really quick pattern to make, particularly the second time round. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for comfortable pants that are cute, practical and quick sew.

  7. Lisa Bond

Lovey easy make pattern, I made a dressy pair but could easily make this pattern in a sweat material for lazy days. I found the instructions, as always, really easy to follow and have had requests for others to be made.

  8. Melanie Couture

Overall the pattern is well explain and the result is really confortable. I will make an other one smaller for me and spend the summer in these pants.

  9. Gabrielle Carisse

They were really easy and fast to make, and so comfy to wear! a new family favorite!

  10. VIcky Dufour

Such conmfortable joggers ! Loved how they fall, the loose fit. Always a pleasure to sew a RP pattern, some minor adjustment for the waist on our part, but all in all, great pattern and will do it again for sure !
