What happens when comfort and style collide? You get this ladies’ and children’s joggers sewing pattern! One piece of clothing that covers you and the kidlets from lounging about to running errands/ doing chores to hitting up the office or classroom.
How can one pattern be so versatile that it takes you from pyjamas to boardroom or playground? Fabric choice!
The high rise, loose fitting pants with a dropped crotch, slight gathering, deep cuffs, and pocket detailing can be made in the most deliciously soft and squishy knits for the ideal duvet day apparel. Whip them up in a more structured, but equally as delicious and comfy, ponte and you have a pair of chino-style trousers for the ladies to wear with heals and a gorgeous blouse and jacket, and for the children to rock sneakers/ flats and a nice tee.
Styling your Brooklyn Joggers
Pair your Brooklyns with a Comfy Cowl Hoodie, Dreamy Drape, or Neve for maximum relaxing. Ladies, wear with a Strappy Cami and Tara or one of the Blouse Collection. Children, wear with a nice tee or blouse. Add accessories and/ or backpack and you have extraordinary office and out-of-home outfitting!
Skill Level – Beginner
Sizes – Pattern includes ladies’ sizes XXS to 5XL, and children’s sizes newborn to 12 years. See the size chart in the gallery above.
Options – Ribbed detailing on pockets
Ideas – Consider leaving off the pockets for a more streamlined look for smarter wear
Fabrics – Suitable for almost any weight knit fabric with a minimum of 30% stretch. Best results and fit will be achieved with a medium-weight fabric. Great examples are sweater knits, medium-weight jersey, cotton lycra, viscose elastine, ponte, scuba, cotton interlock, stretch velour, and stretch French terry. A lighter weight fabric will fit a bit looser and blouson over the cuff more. Do not use a woven fabric.
For the waistband, pockets, and cuffs you’ll need ribbing or fabric with at least a 50% stretch with a good recovery. To check if your fabric has the right stretch, hold a piece up to a ruler, pull it along the stretch and see if it stretches at least 1.5 times its length.
See the fabric requirements in the gallery above for yardage. A serger/ overlocker is optional but NOT required.
