Description

This simply lovely party dress is everything the name promises: prettiness for days! It has many options allowing you to dress it up for party season, or dress it down for more casual wearing (it does make a rather delightful sun dress!). The curved neckband, fitted bodice, and full skirt are a beautiful combination of style and comfort.

Closures are buttons or snaps at the shoulders and an invisible side zip. You have three length options (short, knee, and tea length), optional layers of netting or tulle to make it extra fancy, and an optional sash with bow for waist details.

All the cleverly-designed self-finishing seams means the raw edges are neatly tucked away out of sight.

Skill Level – Beginner to intermediate

Sizes – Pattern includes sizes newborn to 12 years.  See the size chart in the gallery above.

Options – Closures are buttons or snaps at the shoulders and an invisible side zip. You have three length options (short, knee, and tea length), optional layers of netting or tulle to make it extra fancy, and an optional sash with bow for waist details.

Fabrics – You will achieve best results with light- to medium-weight wovens for your main fabrics. Good examples are cotton, linen, and satin. If you use a very heavy fabric you may find some seams bulky and/or the fit a bit tighter than expected.

Lining:

Use a lightweight woven fabric for your lining.

Interfacing:

Your interfacing should be a lightweight interfacing.

Netting:

The netting layer is optional. There are two versions of the netting. Either ‘regular’ netting (the skirt will have a slight puff), or the full netting (very full and the skirt will look like there is a petticoat underneath). Both have a 2 inch overhang under the skirt and will be seen. You can use any type of netting or tulle.

Format – This trim-free pattern is a downloadable PDF and comes in A4 or US letter printable sizes. An A0 format (pattern pieces only) is also included should you wish to have your pattern printed professionally. PDF Layers allow you to select and print only the size/s you want.

I liked the layers of the skirt and the full lining. It always makes for a well made, well laying, high-end looking garment. This is a beautiful and adaptable pattern that can readily dressed up or down for dressy or casual occasions. It will easily become a dress staple of my daughter’s wardrobe.

You can play this dress up, or down. Make a simple day dress, a dress for church, or a fancy party dress. It is seriously wonderful.

Its so gorgeous and forgiving! You can mess up but because of the way it all comes together you can hide a lot of mistakes and no one would ever know! It looks super hard and complicated so people think you are an amazing seamstress but really it’s simple, fast, and easy!

  7. Alisa Kozak (verified owner)

It is a beautiful fully lined dress with very professional finishes.

  8. Kellie Padilla (verified owner)

It’s a relativity easy sew with stunning results which makes it a desired pattern to sew for years to come for those special occasions.

Definitely purchase this pattern. The dress itself is just sweet and a delight. Its very classy and elegant depending if you add tulle or not. I would tell them that even a novice or experienced seamstress could put this together as the instructions as perfectly clear and concise. There is nothing that you would need to google here, as everything is provided and backed up with picture perfect imagery. And best of all…….Mummy and Me dresses, who doesn’t love those!!

I loved sewing the yoke. It was a bit like origami, I wasn’t sure it was going to turn out. I followed the instructions exactly (with lots of pinning) and voila, a beautiful dress emerged. The pattern is adorable and very easy to follow. You can truly customize this dress to your heart’s desire. A beginner would have the most success with cotton fabric and regular netting.

Go for it! I loved to make the bodice and lining. The lining makes it so professional!

  12. Gaëlle Schultz (verified owner)

Justst by playing with netting and fabric choice, you can obtain very different styles! From classic to very princess like. Plus it comes in womens sizes as well. And I love the fact that you added a simple belt version! When I get round to making one for myself, I’ll go for that 🙂

  13. Brittany Perkins-Ehrich (verified owner)

Directions are very clear. I impressed myself that I could make a dress with lining and a yoke – neither of both have I done before.

  14. Danielle Rutter (verified owner)

Get it! It’s easy to follow, fairly quick to sew, and results in an adorable dress!
