“The ID Wallet is a Fun and fairly easy pattern to make, for a beginner sewist the zipper because of the size might pose a small challenge. But, if you read the instructions and take your time it goes in fairly quick and easy. The pattern is clearly marked and easy to understand. The instructions are very detailed, understandable even for a beginner sewist and each step is clearly written out with photos to help if you are a visual learner.
I loved making this little wallet and will be making more to go along with the folding shopping bag and pleated purse from Rebecca Page to be given as gifts. Thank You for Another Great Pattern!”

This was a fun and satisfying sew! I might make it without the ID pocket too.

This came together faster than expected. And it looks really cute. I can see a lot more purposes than just for IDs 🙂
Amanda Schildmeier –

Loraine Wilkinson –
Nice little wallet to make.
Kainui Paet Nihipali –
The ID wallet is a great scrap buster! It doesn’t use a lot of fabric. The vinyl window piece is a great addition as well as the optional wrist loop. This wallet comes together quickly & is great for on-the-go.
Hayati Jamil –
Yea!!! I ve sewn my own wristlet. Not as easy as expected but not that hard. Enough to challenge my skill.
Bunford Orsi –
A small, but very cute little wristlet. The clear vinyl is a bit tricky to sew in, but other than that it’s a fast sew.
Geraldine Tan –
I love how one can choose the fabric to make the ID wallet. Took me awhile to figure out how to make but im glad i attempted it!:)
Katherine Harris –
This ID Wallet is the perfect wristlet for spring and summer, when you need to carry some essentials but want to forgo your bulky purse or tote bag. I love that it has a vinyl pocket where you can place your ID or business card in, this would also be a lot of fun to hack into a luggage tag for my next trip!
Melissa Clementz –
Such a quick and easy pattern! I made two for my daughters, and will be making more for their friends when I buy more zippers.
Tiina Norrkniivilä –
A fun pattern that’s easy to make if you follow the tutorial. It just shouts out that it wants to go outside with you. 🙂
Donna Lowe –
I love the style of this wallet, it’s perfect for a quick run outside when a full purse isn’t need. The curved top gives it a different look. It was quick and easy to make.
Nadine Humblet –
This wallet is perfect for holidays. I can put all my little things. The sewing is not so easy. There is some thickness of fabric and remenber, don’t press the plastic pocket! If you follow all instructions, it will be okay.
Debbie Groves –
An easy fun sew!
Mariah Fair-wall –
I enjoyed sewing the curved Id wallet. The instructions were well written and relatively easy to follow. I did have some confusion in the finishing steps when you are closing the bag. Had to read it over a couple of times to determine the finish. Otherwise it was all clear and came together easily.
Kelle Miller Lujan –
A fun little sew that is also super functional. I love smaller wallets and it’s great to have one that will fit in a purse or pocket easily. It’s also a great scrap buster and is a great way to display some of your treasured fabric remnants.
Jamie Adler –
Great pattern with awesome outcome. Take your time and the result is amazing!
Michele Axmaker Chapman –
Fun cute wallet!
Jemma Tredinnick –
This makes a really sweet and useful wristlet with very little hassle. It took me less than 2 hours from download to finished. I made it to match the folding shopping bag out of African print cotton. It is lined and very neat on the inside with optional strap and keyloop.
Melissa Delaney –
A very quick and easy sew, and the outcome is so rewarding.
Abby Villarreal –
Quick project, lots of options for how to carry, attach, etc.
Juliana Garibaldi –
I loved the ID Wallet! Easy to sew and great ID Wallet!!!!
Shona Young –
This bag is a lovely small handbag that is fairly easy to sew and has plenty of extra options. I made mine with the phone and patch pocket inside, key holder the front pocket and the bow. I haven’t stopped using it since I finished it and I’ve had lots of compliments already.
Charlene Lee –
The Essential Handbag is a great smaller purse with the conveinence of a crossbody strap or handles. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. I enjoyed making this purse and on my third one for a friend!
Loraine Wilkinson –
Nice finished bag.
Branka Čelić –
Essential handbag is a must have bag for everyday occasion. It can be made for night out too with right fabric. Clear instructions with so many options make this pattern one of the essentials.
Liz Faber –
I love this handbag. It was easier to sew than it looks and is a bit like Mary Poppins bag – it holds more than it looks like it should!
Bunford Orsi –
This handbag is so versatile! You can make it elegant , casual, fun .. just use your imagination, and in just a few hours you could be a proud owner of a new handbag! 🙂
Katie Weatherly –
This bag turned out very sweet. I love it
Kirsten Olson –
I love this bag so much and can’t wait to take it to the dog park. It’s big so that I can pack it with a dog sweater, bags, several balls, and his water and treat container. The handles are sturdy enough with the interfacing that I can clip his leash to them after I take it off of him. I need several more of these gorgeous customizable bags.
Jamie Adler –
What a fabulously easy and quick handbag pattern! Essential? Yes! I made one for my mom as a replacement for her worn out purse and she thought I bought it! What a compliment! You won’t be disappointed with the pattern at all.
Kendra Quincy Knauf –
I did a very basic version and it was an enjoyable sew. I look forward to trying another one with all the bells and whistles!
Deb Sendelbach –
This bag was so fun to make. I can’t believe I really made it. The directions are so easy to follow and very helpful. I think now instead of a purse hanging off my shoulder I’m going to use this bum bag. I might have to make one to match every outfit in my closet.
Loren Lewis –
I never thought I’d say this..but
I LOVE MY BUM BAG!
I’ve been wanting something small to put my phone and keys into, without having to lug around a handbag, especially when going out shopping.
The small size is perfect!
I decided to make a large as well to keep snacks in on my walks. Who doesn’t love a good snack pouch?!
Angel Pooley –
Love this sew, when I went through the instructions I was so daunted but the instructions were so thorough when I finally finished it felt like magic! Thank you once again!
Leigh Ann McDermott –
What a fun and delightful project! A useful bag to carry the things you need while on a walk or a run to the store. Extremely useful to keep your hands free.
Sharon Courtney –
Clear, easy to follow pattern to make the perfect accessory
Susan Anderson –
“I love this pattern! As with all Rebecca Page patterns the instructions are very detailed making it easy to follow. I love the option of different sizes making it easy to get the right size for me. I made a large and love that when we go on outings as a family I can put my important items in the bum bag and not need to fuss with my heavy purse.”
Clare Bowes –
“Great as a bag if you have to use assistance walking (crutches), as a backpack can be awkward to get to at shop counters etc. It can be made as a cross body bag
This is a great pattern for advancing beyond beginner skills. I would advise double checking before cutting the side pieces out that the outer and lining fabrics are positioned correctly for each side (I cut the right side pieces in same direction as my left! So had to recut).
The small is a good size, and if you do the straps the full size of each piece, this can make a nice cross body bag too, which is how I intend to use mine, as I need assistance to walk with crutches – this will make it so much easier to have a bag, other than a back pack!.
Don’t use thick padded interfacing for both outer and lining pieces, it’ll be too hard to turn through. My next one will have a padded out back, and outer front bottom, I am going to do the large next.
Great quick project, longest part is the turning out, and if making adjustable straps, getting them set correctly before final sewing.
It comes in large & small, although don’t be fooled the small is a fab size.”
Stacey Williams –
I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone just starting out sewing but if you’re adventurous this bag is for you. The small size is nearly as large as a small backpack but Rebecca Page is so generous, both small and large are included in the pattern. Yay!
Stephanie Springer Leddy –
This was a quick sew, very easy to cut and make up. The small size is plenty roomy to hold a wallet, keys and phone for a quick jaunt…I can see this being ideal for heading out and about with my kiddos, so I can keep my “essentials” close at hand when also juggling a diaper bag, stroller, and small children!
Jenny Gomez –
This was a really quick and easy sew and a great scrap buster! I was pleasantly surprised at how much space the final bag had!
Pamela Stump –
An easy sew that makes a slim bag to mix and match with all your outfits! I made a size small, and it somehow appears to be bigger on the inside than on the outside. It has plenty of room for the essentials with room left over. Great for shopping or going on walks! Try it on before finalizing the length of the straps – they are generously long.
Marietjie Goosen –
This is such a quick sew and because it is so quick to sew makes it the perfect “last minute” gift to sew. Love that it gives you two size options plus option to choose between webbing and fabric straps.
Kainui Nihipali –
The large bum bag has a lot of options & can be hacked to what you need. It is an easy sew but may seem intimidating because of the different notions required. The bum bag is great! I love that it can be worn on the waist or hips and over the shoulders.
Katie Weatherly –
I enjoyed this sew very much and look forward to making many more.
Samantha Burton –
“This is definitely a satisfying sew in the end. There are many steps that will test your patience, but they are totally worth it. I love this pattern and can’t wait to make more.
You will want to use a heavyweight needle to get through all the layers and take your time. Slow and steady!”
Debbie Prince –
Loved making this bag, was quick and not complicated. Didnt think I would be bum bag wearer but this bag has definitely changed my mind 🙂
Gabriella Hägglund –
I made a colourful bum bag, and it’s such à fun and practical bag, used it for à long walk with my dog and can easily put all I need in it.
Alexandria Phillip –
Love this bag! It was a super quick sew and love that it looks more modern than the typical waist bag. I cant wait to take it hiking and fishing to carry my stuff hands free!
Agnes Robinson –
“It is a fun pattern but a little hard at the end when you turn out the final product at the last step.”
Amy Kaczenski –
I have been looking for a bum bag for over a year and nothing looked right or came in the fabric I wanted! This pattern is perfect! Not bulky, adjustable and fits my wallet and phone with extra room!
Grace Elliott –
I am sew excited to use my new Bum Bag! The pattern was mostly easy… sewing around the corners using interfaced canvas was challenging, but very rewarding. I’d been saving my fabric for a fun sew, and I am so happy I did. The zip was not bad to place, and the finished product is great. I can’t wait to take it on a spin to the grocery store or walking through our neighborhood.
Nicole Flanagan –
I really love this bag! I was a little sceptical about the size from photos but it is actually the perfect size. I love the way it’s constructed to hide all the raw seams and it can all be sewn with the sewing machine.
Aune Wood –
This bag goes nice around the waist or over the shoulder. The small is still big enough for a phone and lots of snacks and other things.
Kirsty Bucholz –
What an awesome little bag. So easy to make, and so useful
Shauna Richards –
I made one and I want to make SO MANY MORE! This pattern is so fun and comes together quickly. The pattern is great as is but I can picture so many ways to make small changes for a different look. It also leads to a big open space for decoration if you use a plain fabric. One of my favorite parts is that I could use mostly scraps so I didn’t to go out and buy any new fabric. This is probably my new favorite scrap buster!
Kyra Delaney –
I enjoyed making this and the directions were very straightforward. Only thing I would change is measuring your strap instead of doing the recommended as I had to cut a bunch off. Word of warning the layers can get a bit thick (I used interfaced vinyl for a fake leather look) which skipped some stitches. Overall though it was a great sew.
Pamela Turner Munnerlyn –
I LOVE this bag. It was perfect to take to the store today so I didn’t have to put my purse in the basket and it fit under my jacket. I will be making one for when we go camping and one to use when I walk. I am in love with the bag and it is pretty.
Jessica Kaiser –
This was a easy sew from start to finish! I consider myself a beginner sewer (with some basic knowledge) and I’ve never attempted a project like this before – and it turned out great! Instructions were clear and easy to understand. Pattern pieces were simple and easily came together. It took me about 3 hours from start to finish (with a few interruptions from kids!). I will definitely be making more.
Jessica Kaiser –
This was a fun sew! I made it difficult for myself by using a thicker upholstery fabric AND an outdoor fabric, but it came together relatively quickly. This bag could be used for its intended purpose by wearing it around the waist, or forego the buckles and sew the straps together to make a sling-type bag.
Deepthi Gunasheker –
Very quick and easy sew. Perfect project to pass an hour!!!
Patricia Beidegårdh –
Love it! It Will be the perfect bag on all our mini trips in the summer!
Lisa Corriveau –
The bum bag goes together in just a few hours, creating a simple, functional, yet cute way to carry a few essentials. The pattern would be easy to customize to make it your own unique style. I like the options to make straps of the same fabric & two different sizes. I’m sure I’ll be making more of these!
Jennifer Lichak –
This bag is the updated cool version of the fanny pack from my youth! With fabrics that you love this bag is useful, gorgeous and so much fun.
Melissa Delaney –
Such an easy sew and it comes together beautifully. I love the end result.
Tiffany Amos –
I was so over the moon to get this pattern because I have been waiting for something like this . Thank you so much Rebecca Page . This pattern is straight to the point with very clear instructions . I made an accidental hack but after wearing it as a crossover bag I feel in love even more . You rock!
Kat Churchill –
So quick and easy, plenty of room for all of your needs!
Stephanie Koehler –
What a great bumpattern. Really like that it’s more of a square. Great room on the inside. Great instructions and easy to put in the zipper.
Courtney Palmer –
Sew amazing! Super quick, super cute! This versatile little bag can be worn either on your hip, across your chest or back and even (with some small modifications) could be attached to a belt, your thigh or made into a shoulder bag. 5/5
Nadia Cadby –
Great pattern, attaching the back was a challenge and a lesson learned – several lessons on this one actually and I loved it. ‘Birthing’ took a while and was rather harsh on my nails but I used oilcloth and duck cloth so fairly thick.
Heather Gratton –
Wow, this is a really well explained pattern that truely makes a large bum bag! Ideal to use as a cross body bag as well, with enough room to make a practical handbag. My tip would be to use a jeans needle though as there’s a few spots where you’re sewing through quite a lot of layers. Well worth the money and sewing time.
Shelley Clark –
This is a great shopping bag pattern. Nice to be able to zip them up into a smaller size when not using.
Heather Luben –
This is a fun pattern that is very useful! In general it’s a very easy pattern to follow…not many steps, pretty straight forward assembly…the zipper takes a bit of patience and fiddling, but is worth the time to get right!
Alieke Enders –
Who doesn’t need a fold up zipper bag? With the very detailed manual, anyone can make such a beautiful fold up zipper bag! Also useful for getting rid of the somewhat larger scraps.
Donna Lowe –
I am always forgetting to take a shopping bag with me when I go shopping. These bags are great for slipping into your purse or hanging on your keys. I am loving them and the different sizes makes it even more convient. I don’t think I’ll be forgetting my shopping bag anymore.
Kyra Delaney –
I love how perfectly sized the medium bag was and how it simply folds into a zippered pouch. Sewing the zipper in along the curves was a bit tough to line up perfectly and I did make some mistakes. That said the finished bag is sturdy, tailored, and perfect for going out and getting groceries. Haven’t had a chance to test it out yet but so happy with my sew today.
Lisa Corriveau –
The foldable shopping bag is a fairly quick sew, & not too complicated to make, though you need to be quite careful when attaching the zipper & the base. The finished result is a handy, compact way to always have a reusable bag when needed!
Loraine Wilkinson –
Great bag to make!
Peggy Pazera Cooke –
The zipper is a little tricky, but once you get it, it makes a great bag that is extremely useful.
Adelle Pears –
This is a very useful bag! It folds away nicely and it’s really handy to be able to clip it on to keys or a handbag. I found adding the zip a challenge but it’s because I missed an important note in the instructions, go slow and read them throughly!
Deb Sendelbach –
This is a great pattern. What a great way to store a bag and take it with you in your purse for the next great shopping trip. It comes in 3 sizes which are very generous. This is definitely a must have pattern.
Francisca Beitler –
The shape of this bag is great. It can be used for shopping, holidays, going to the beach etc. etc. It is perfect for using left-over fabric or old sheets. Without a zipper it is a quick and easy project. With the zipper, it takes a bit more time and experience.
Branka Čelić –
Foldable Shopping Bag is a neccessity for every purse. Grab it for every store or library visit. Quite sturdy and roomy, even a Medium size is sufficient for 6 bottles of water or whatever you need to carry. After use, just zip it up and neatly store.
Kel J –
The medium bag is a great size and you can fit so much in it. I love how sturdy the straps are. I struggled to get the zipper neat but it still folds up nicely into the pouch
Jemma Tredinnick –
This makes a really cute and handy bag which folds up and clips onto your handbag. I made a small size (it was the only zip I had) and used a quite heavy cotton. It was fiddly to sew on the zip but so worth it when you flip the bag the right way round and have a perfect little pouch. If you just follow the instructions and take the sewing slowly and carefully the zip will work nicely. I now have a very hand bag to carry everywhere.
Melissa Dale –
A quick sew and a great way to be environmentally friendly.
