Main Fabric – This swimsuit has been designed for 4-way stretch knit fabrics with 40-50% stretch to create a snug fit. Lycra gives extra stretch and has excellent recovery. Great choices are nylon lycra or jersey polyester lycra. Increasing the amount of lycra/ elastane will provide a tighter, more compression feel to the fit.
Lining Fabric – These are typically similar to swimsuit fabrics. They are often a little lighter in weight and have more stretch – a good example is halenka lining which is soft and stretchy, however it can be transparent. You can also use a regular swimsuit fabric instead of a swimsuit lining (as shown throughout the tutorial), as this offers more support.
OPTIONAL Power Mesh – For additional support you can add a 4-way stretch power mesh to the front, back and cup pieces.
- OPTIONAL Underwires – You will need underwire casing and underwires.
- Underwire Casing - 1 ½ yards
- Underwires - 1x pair full cup
- OPTIONAL Pre-finished foam padding - ¼ yard.
- 3 ½ yards of ⅜-inch cotton swimwear elastic
- OPTIONAL Cotton swimwear elastic for straps - 1.25 yards
- Thin Strap OPTION: ⅜ inch wide
- Wide Strap OPTION: ¾ inch wide
- Polyester thread to match
- Sewing machine
- Pins or clips
- Tape measure or ruler
- Optional zipper foot
- Optional walking foot
- Disappearing ink pen or tailor's chalk
