Description
What happens when comfort and cool collide? You get this childrens joggers sewing pattern! One piece of clothing that covers your kidlet from lounging about to doing chores, running around playing sports, and even school (if they don’t wear a uniform).
How can one pattern be so versatile that it takes you from pyjamas to classroom? Fabric choice!
The high rise, loose fitting pants with a dropped crotch, slight gathering, deep cuffs, and pocket detailing can be made in the most deliciously soft and squishy knits for the ideal duvet day apparel. Whip them up in a more structured, but equally as delicious and comfy, ponte and you have a pair of chino-style trousers for the kidlets to wear with sneakers or sandals and a nice top.
Styling your Brooklyn Joggers
Pair your Brooklyns with a Comfy Cowl Hoodie or Dreamy Drape for maximum relaxing. Wear with a nice tee or blouse for out-the-house outfitting. Add backpack and go!

Skill Level – Beginner
Sizes – Pattern includes children’s sizes XXS to 5XL. See the size chart in the gallery above.
Options – Ribbed detailing on pockets
Ideas – Consider leaving off the pockets for a more streamlined look for smarter wear
Fabrics – Suitable for almost any weight knit fabric with a minimum of 30% stretch. Best results and fit will be achieved with a medium-weight fabric. Great examples are sweater knits, medium-weight jersey, cotton lycra, viscose elastine, ponte, scuba, cotton interlock, stretch velour, and stretch French terry. A lighter weight fabric will fit a bit looser and blouson over the cuff more. Do not use a woven fabric.
For the waistband, pockets, and cuffs you’ll need ribbing or fabric with at least a 50% stretch with a good recovery. To check if your fabric has the right stretch, hold a piece up to a ruler, pull it along the stretch and see if it stretches at least 1.5 times its length.
See the fabric requirements in the gallery above for yardage. A serger/ overlocker is optional but NOT required.

Amanda –
I went into sewing these knowing that they would be a little oversized, and they did not disappoint. They are very roomy, which is great for baby as there is definitely growing room! I do wish the bottom cuff could have accommodated my main fabric but alas, the stretch was not there so I had to use ribbing as recommended in the pattern. I was worried they would be too small as even with ribbing it had to stretch all the way, but any looser and they wouldn’t stay put when she wears them! all around, quick and easy sew, great directions, and a fun slouchy style.
Zoe Lawson –
Great knit sew! The perfect alternative to leggings or track pants. I love the cuffs and the harem style really appeals. Comfort wear at its best.

Shima Chelong –
This pattern requires an advanced beginner skills to sew it. But the result is awesome.

Another great pattern from Rebecca Page. I would personally make the waist band taller and an option to use without the elastic
Hildur Gudmundsdottir –
Quick and easy pattern that gives you a very trendy joggers. Even though it is “just” joggers you can play with the end results i.e. with color blocking for the cuffs and legs, color blocking the pockets etc. This will clearly be a stable in my daughters closet. Haven’t tried the women’s yet but aim to do so.

My son loves the jogger! The pockets are great too! The only thing he not fancy is the ankle cuff. A bit tight and long
Doris Van Dyk –
The pocket might move this from a beginner project to an experienced beginner, but the instructions were clear and easy to follow, so I would recommend this to a beginner with some experience sewing with knits.
Topstitching is optional, but I think the topstitching really adds to the look of the finished joggers.
Melisa Harry –

This pattern was such a quick sew. My son loves it!!! He has long skinny legs so it’s almost impossible for him to wear clothes from the shops.

This is such a quick and easy pattern!
Jen Vincilione –
My daughter falls into the smallest size of 2/3 so they are a bit big but surprisingly don`t fall off of her hips, the long cuffs will make the joggers last longer as she grows. It was a pretty easy pattern to follow and the pocket cuffs add a nice pop of color using a coordinate fabric.
Heather Naretto –
I love how easy the Brooklyn Joggers were to make! Was a bit nervous because elastic isn’t my favorite, but the way that the waistband incases the elastic made it so easy!!
The fit was perfect too. I made a size 3/4 for my toddler and they fit spot on(follow the size chart!).
Definitely a great pattern for some comfy joggers.

The brooklyn joggers are so cute for little ones. I love the pocket details, even if they are too small to use them, it’s still a nice feature. They were very easy and fast to sew and I will definitely make more.
