The Paris Day Dress

Gallery – See images from Instagram below. Or view our full tester galleries on our Facebook page here: Paris Day Dress

Skill Level – Beginner

Sizes – Pattern includes children’s sizes newborn to 12 years. See the size chart in the gallery above.

Options – Skirt options include a single full tier or three gathered tiers, boat or scoop neck, and plain or puff, cap, short, three-quarter, or long sleeves

Ideas – Consider adding extra tiers for a fuller maxi dress, or leaving off tiers for a gathered peplum-style top.

Fabrics – Suitable for almost any weight knit fabric. Best results and fit will be achieved with a light- to medium-weight fabric. A fabric with 4-way stretch (stretches in all directions) will give more drape than a 2-way stretch (only stretches in one direction). It will also swing and swish around your legs more. Great examples are jersey, rayon, viscose, bamboo, ITY jersey, silk satin with elastine, and silk jersey with elastine. These will give you a lovely drape and swing. Do not use a woven fabric.

See the fabric requirements in the gallery above for yardage. A serger/ overlocker is optional but NOT required.

Format – This trim-free pattern is a downloadable PDF and comes in A4 or US letter printable sizes. An A0 format (pattern pieces only) is also included should you wish to have your pattern printed professionally. PDF Layers allow you to select and print only the size/s you want.

Really a must have pattern! I definitely enjoyed sewing up this pattern, like a really good book, I couldn’t put it down until it was done!

Great dress pattern. I enjoyed the semi fitted bodice, I’m going to try using woven for the skirt next!

A quick sew with dramatic results. My daughter loves the twirl factor. If you’re new to knits, this would make a good beginner sew, just go for it!

I really love the pattern. Even though the length should be sit right pass the knee, mine turn to maxi length. But i love the length though!

So many options to create the perfect, comfy dress! My daughters appreciate the variety of sleeve options, as well as a choice of necklines and skirts. Adding some lace/mesh layers or using a wide variety of fabric types for various parts adds texture and visual appeal. My girls and I have really enjoyed dreaming up so many variations of this dress, ranging from casual play dresses to fancy special occasion frocks.

I really enjoyed sewing this dress! I have never sewed cap sleeves, and was very delighted how it all came together after I finished the armscye hem. I wasn’t sure my gathers would look OK, but they look amazing, and after I over locked all the seams, my dress looks professionally-sewn. Thank you Rebecca Page Patterns again for the sewing education and the wonderful pattern.

Great pattern! I ranked it intermediate because in this size it is not as easy to make but in a larger size I would rank it beginner.
