Fabric - you will need a stretch/knit fabric to make the T-Shirt Dress. It can be any weight; however, best results and fit will be achieved with a light or medium weight fabric such as jersey, silk satin with elastine, silk jersey with elastine, double brushed poly, rayon spandex, bamboo spandex, modal, cotton lycra, ponte, poly rayon spandex etc.
Your fabric will need to have at least 20 – 30 % stretch to get the fit as it’s designed. Using fabric with a minimum of 40% stretch will allow the pattern to be used for maternity wear.

What an easy sew and a staple for your closet! Dress it up for a night out, or down for relaxing at home.
Sarah Miller –
This dress was a super quick and easy sew! I sewed up the mid thigh length in the round neck and flared version in less time then it took me to print and cut the pattern! The fit is amazing and so comfortable. I already have fabric picked out for several more and this is my new staple t-shirt pattern as well!
Jenni Elizabeth Early –
Love, love, love!! This is a t-shirt, and it’s not! It has so many options. Two different silhouettes: straight and flare, six different lengths: crop, top, mid-thigh, knee, mid-calf, and maxi. And a choice between short or long sleeves and scoop or v-neck. That makes something like 48 different options 🙂 So far, I have made the top length shirt and the mid-calf dress, both in the straight version. So I guess that means I have 2 down, 46 to go! It’s drafted perfectly for my body 🙂 I see many more of these in my future!!
Clare Bowes –
A really quick and easy sew!
This pattern is fantastic, so many options to choose from! The hardest part is which to choose first!!!
All options be worn casual or dressed up, perfect for warm/ summery weather if made in a lightweight fabric.
I made XL, straight fit, mid-thigh length (But I kept the length as per pattern without shortening – I’m 5ft), in a jersey that has a lovely soft backing.
It is so comfy to wear
It’s a great beginner sew for anyone who hasn’t tried stretch fabrics before.
I’ll be making a few of these.
Cindy Matthijssen –

Diane Cullum –
Quick and easy for a perfect fitting tee! The neckband stuck out on my first try so I cut another out of better fabric with more stretch. It still sticks out. I will try shortening it the next time.
Laura Stephen –
A quick sew, and the first time I successfully made a V-neck shirt!
Adelle Pears –
This is a wardrobe staple! I have 5 already! There are so many options with the flared and straight fits and different lengths. I sized down for my second flared version and added pockets to my dress length versions and I love them all! Such a quick and easy sew.

A very easy and quick pattern with lots of options.
Nali –
This T-shirt dress pattern is simply the best! It fits well and so easy to sew. The only difficult part is deciding the various options in sleeves length, dress length, flare or straight fit. But which ever combination you choose, it’ll turn out gorgeous! Definitely my favourite. Size XS with armhole adjustment to size M.
Karen Kaye Manalo –
If you are looking for a comfortable t-shirt dress that is quick and easy to sew, I highly recommend this pattern.
Kyra Delaney –
I made this with the traditional short sleeve shirt length options and the straight side seams. I absolutely love the finished shirt. This is a perfect pattern if you want a regular tee with a few extra add-ons. I can see pulling this quick and simple pattern whenever I want a simple tee.
Grace Elliott –
This is the perfect T-shirt dress. It is nicely skimming from the waist down for ease of movement and comfort without being baggy. I imagine many of these for the summer months! It doesn’t make a bad tee shirt either.
Jasmine Chandler –
I love this pattern so quick and easy to make!
Jessica Kaiser –

“This pattern is great. It has so many posibilities and you can sew a hundred in an afternoon. I think it has become my favourite pattern so far. I’ll sew some for summer, some for winter and a few more just for fun 🙂
Thank you very much for this great pattern. “
Amanda Cunningham –
I LOVED this pattern! I have already made two and have a third on my sewing table. The t-shirt pattern is so simple to put together it can be done in less than an hour. The cut is very flattering (which is something for me as I don’t usually like t-shirt dresses). I like that it’s a little more fitted on the top but not as much around the tummy where ladies don’t want it to hug. It’s going to be one of my staple patterns from now on!
Pam OFlynn –
The Ladies T-shirt Dress has so many options! One pattern can make most of your wardrobe!
Lieve Cox –
I think this is a quick and easy sew. Just had to read the instructions for the V-neck 3 times, but that was my own fault (I thought I knew how to do it, but I was overconfident :-), in the end it worked out). My daughter loves it and she wants me to make her another, mid-calf length and the T-shirt version is also on her wishlist.
Michelle Mason –
This is my favourite dress right now, soooo comfortable and real easy to sew, love to wear this for everyday around the house right now and I think it would work as a nightdress too depending on fabric, I want to try it with a stretch velvet too to see how it looks all snazzy. I definitely need a few more of these
Chiara Kruse –
”
A quick and flattering project to showcase your favorite fabric or create a staple basic for your wardrobe. The t-shirt dress comes with 2 silhouettes, multiple sleeve and hem lengthes to give you a plethora of options.”
Chiara Kruse –
A quick staple pattern to fill your little’s closet for every season. This versatile pattern is great for showcasing your favorite fabrics or build a capsule wardrobe of mix and match basics. With multiple sleeve and hem lengthes and two silhouettes and necklines, there is an option for every occasion.
Rebekah Homer –
Finally. A year ago a made bunch of different t-shirt patterns trying to find the right one for just a basic awesome tshirt. I guess I was a year early, lol. So far I’ve only made the t-shirt length, short sleeve, v-neck in slim fit. It is perfect. Spot on. Super comfy. Super easy. I love the subtle v-neck that isn’t too deep- even though I’ll probably hack it deeper for some looks, it’s great as is for the casual look. I have plans for many more- and currently have the maxi dress on my cutting table. I find choosing which fabric I want to use takes me more time than actually sewing it up!
Luana Furlanetto –
Very easy sew, I love the versatility of this pattern, that can be dressy or casual depending on the fabric and accessories.
Sarai Orama –
Great versatile pattern! Will be making a lot of these in the future! And so cute on a growing maternity belly!
Leigh Ann McDermott –
I love the v-neck option, what a quick sew
Sabrina Ropp –
I love this pattern! I went from printing to wearing the dress in a single day it was so easy and fast. It works for a simple V-neck T-shirt to a long black knit dress for more formal occasions.
Mel Cornwall –
A very fast and easy sew! The instructions are so easy to understand. The V neck is perfection. It took me about 2 hours from printing the pattern to the finished product! What a fun pattern. Thank you 🙂
Donna Jones –

Super quick sew. The V neck is a bit tricky for someone who’s never done one before (me) but I done the flared option and I can’t wait to make more for the spring ♥️🥰
Donna Jones –
Super simple sew with clear instructions and so so so many options. Literally a one stop pattern for long, shirt, ¾length tops, crops, tshirts, dresses, nighties, this unisex pattern is a must have wardrobe staple, you’ll have the kids in Me made clothing in no time!
Kelly Tuttle –
Very quick and easy sew, and with so many options you can make it so many different ways! I chose to make the flared above the knee dress with 3/4 sleeves and it is so flowy and comfortable- I can’t wait to try it again in the crop top version!
Glo Ban –
I made the thigh length, flared version with long sleeves – I especially loved how I only needed to grade up one size for my hips. This is the perfect pattern for everyone; the variations means it can fit anyone of any shape and the inclusive size range ticks all the boxes. This is now and forever be my go-to tee shirt / dress pattern! Love the shapes, neck variations and sleeve lengths; I will make one in every colour!
Maja –
Simple pattern with great instructions. Perfect for any occasion, with different kind of fabric you can get different kind of look – from super cozy to elegant.
Pamela Stump –
This was a quick, easy sew with tons of options! Two necklines, a bunch of sleeve lengths, and hemlines from crop top to maxi. Mine was in cotton lycra, with the shallow v-neck, long sleeves, and the “top” length because I needed more long-sleeve t’s! My husband likes it, he says that with this fabric, it doesn’t look like “just a t-shirt.” I will be making more.
Erica Nemnich –
Great simple quick shirt dress. Many options to choose from
Sarah Hopkins –
I love this pattern and made 2 versions so far. I can see myself filling up my wardrobe with all the variations. I love it because it was quick and simple sew yet looks great on. I get so cold in winter so the long sleeve top version is perfect for layers. In the summer I live in comfy dresses. I can see me coming back to this pattern time and time again!
Stephanie Tharp –
Fast easy sew, definitely recommend sizing up for layering and looser fit.

The Ladies T-Shirt Dress Pattern is not just a dress pattern. There are several length options that you can make plus several sleeve options. It also gives you a choice between a flared or straight option. This pattern is quick to sew and fits nicely. It will quickly become a TNT pattern.
Mariza Seymour –
“So easy to sew up with loads of options to keep it interesting. Adore the look of the vneck option (and what an easy explanation on doing the vneck!)
“
Tiina Norrkniivilä –
A superfast and easy pattern with loads of different options. The perfect choice for a girl who loves simple yet flared shirts.
Grace Elliott –
I think this is a horrible pattern! It is ill fitting and all around horrid!
Tara Erwin –
I was in need of a easy pattern to make my girls some basic play dresses and this one was perfect! I like the options of straight or flare since both of my girls prefer something different. I did have to go a size up on them because the sleeves were a little tight on the armpits on the size they measured for but other than that I had no issues with the pattern! Very quick sew too.
Samantha Burton –
While the pattern is a little more form fitting, it was a quick and easy sew. The ending result looks nice also!
Jennifer Lichak –
What a fun, quick and versatile pattern!
Vicky Hughes –
Such a lovely simple pattern. Lots of options. I love it!
Michelle Mason –

Clare Bowes –
A really quick and easy sew!
It’s a great beginner sew for anyone who hasn’t tried stretch fabrics before.
This pattern is fantastic, so many options to choose from! The hardest part is which to choose first!!! Also versatile as could be used for night gown too
All options be worn casual or dressed up, perfect for warm/ summery weather if made in a lightweight fabric.
I made 9-10, straight fit, top length in a lovely trolls jersey I have had in my stash for a couple of years! t is so comfy to wear
I’ll be making a few of these as I know the girls are going to love them.
Debbie Groves –
Nice fit, easy to make and wear
Lisa Corriveau –
The ladies tshirt dress is an easy, quick pattern to sew up. Beginners can keep it simple with a rounded neckline & straight hem, or for a little more challenge, do the V-neck & side vents. It works well in different weights of fabric & makes a great wardrobe basic with lots of hem & sleeve length options.
Sandy Simpson –
For a simple style, this pattern is anything but simple. The drafting is superb, the sizing spot on and the variations endless. I added flutter sleeves to one and split sleeves to another. I love the straight version dress – it is flattering without hugging the body. I am looking forward to making more.
Deb Carpenter –
Really straightforward pattern for someone starting to sew knits!
Adawiyah Hairuni –
The pattern meets my personal preference and I love it!
Kyra Delaney –

Amy Kaczenski –
Easy sew and so many options!
TaWanna Archia –
I love the fit and flow of this dress. I love having a flared option, straight fit and various sleeves. This is perfect for all seasons with a slight modification in fabric. My new RP Pattern.
Sharon Courtney –
Very easy make which quickly sews up into a wardrobe staple. Clear and easy instructions for the v neck option too!
Harriëtte Aertse –
Dress in a day simple to make great to wear
Roseanna Lacas –
I recently gained an inch in the bust and waist and it was enough for me to sew a large instead of the medium I have historically sewn. I wish I had sewn the medium as the large was much flowier than I expected, even in the straight skirt. The sleeves fit great! which makes me concerned that they would actually be too snug for a true large. I used stitch witchery to help with the hem and it made all the difference.
Melissa Clementz –
This dress was a super-quick sew. So cute and easy! I will be making lots more of these!
Jenni Elizabeth Early –
RP really knocked it out of the park with this one! So many options with two different silhouettes, two necklines, three sleeve lengths, and six lengths. Plus the fit is spot-on. I will be making many more of these!!
Jelena –
A very easy and simple pattern to make. Excellent instructions. That said, I had trouble with sizing for the kid, she is usually straightforward size, but here I had to add width to the chest and waist but size down at the hips because they were huge. I also had to add quite a bit for the sleeve length in long sleeve option.
Lore Hill –
Good fit. Went together very easily. Nice staple for any wardrobe
Lore Hill –
A little more snug than she likes but she was at the top end of the sizes. Going up to the next size would probably fix the problem. Pattern went together super easy.
Dési Rée –
Super quick and easy sew.
Amanda Cunningham –
This pattern is actually fun to make. It’s so fast that the finished product was on my daughter before I had to time to think! In less than an hour she had a cute and comfy, stretch velvet dress for church. I can’t wait to make her one for every day of the week for the summer.
Magda Rindmo –
A very fast and easy pattern with a very comfy result. This will be a staple for me when spring arrives!
