“Super comfy and super quick! I want a drawer full of these at all rises!”
Shona Young –
Great easy sew, perfect for larger left over bits of stretch fabrics. I can see me having matching knickers for most outfits now.
Vicki Hoggarth-Hall –
Enjoyable sew which did not take too long. The shape is a great fit. I loved the range of shape options available. This pair I overlocked which worked well and ensured it did not take too long. I used cotton lycra for both the main fabric and the bands. The bands are not too thick like other patterns. The bands are nice and neat which I really like.
Donna Jones –
I really enjoyed this sew, I used 5/8 FOE which was all I had and was a bit tricky to sew, but the doubled 3/8 would have been easier for my machine to grip. I still love my finished knickers and the fit is perfect. I will definitely see more. My favourite part of this sew is all the options! Picot, fold over or standard elastic and bands. It’s perfect for any level sewer and for imaginations to go wild in a scrap bucket!!
Abby Batkin –
Super easy to make, pattern instructions are excellent to follow. Final product gives the perfect amount of coverage. Comfort is above and beyond. Best pair of underwear I’ve owned in years.
Jen MacDonald –
Loved this pattern. I chose the band option, and it was a great sew, requiring only a basic sewing machine and fabric. Clear instructions and a really satisfying final product. Nothing better than a perfectly fitting pair of undies!
Samantha Goldberg –
These are ridiculously comfortable! I cannot believe it took me this long to make my own underwear but I seriously don’t think I’ll buy storebought undies anymore because these are so comfortable and easy to make.
Sarah Reddan –
Loved the pattern. Easy to follow, quick to make and they fit well and are so comfy. Don’t think I will be buying underwear from the stores for a while, or ever again.
Emily Anderson –
As a first time underwear maker, this pattern was really easy to follow! The undies fit very well and are super comfy. I definitely will be making more of these.
Diane Cullum –
Great directions for this fast and easy project. It’s so nice to have 3 rises to choose from as well as instructions for different elastics and bands!
Vikki Parmenter –
The underwear was very easy to make. The pattern was so easy to follow and it’s a great quick sew. I loved it.
Jenni Elizabeth Early –
RP finally as a basic underwear pattern! It is a super-quick scrap buster, and it has so many options: bands, picot/underwear elastic, FOE, and a lined option with powernet if you want it 🙂 This one pairs beautifully with Rebecca Page’s bras, or with any of their camis for a beautiful set.
Kirsty Bucholz –
Wow so easy to make, the fit is awesome. Will be making more of these
Grace Elliott –
The basic underwear are a straightforward panty pattern that I think I’ll be able to tweak into a wardrobe staple! It’s perfect for upcycling old tops!
Sally Jacobs –
Fab pattern will be making more
Agnes Robinson –
This is the pattern everybody needs. This underwear is the most comfortable you will ever have. It is a must to make. You will love it. I do. It is a must of all of the patterns.
Ann Ruysschaert –
perfect fit, quick sew, had some issues with my serger for I did not get the tension right, love them, from now on I will make my undies myself, the fit is by far much better than the ones in the shop
Charldene Sauer –
I enjoyed this pattern its great for the bigger scraps and is such an easy sew. I used left over scraps of cotton knit and it is very comfortable. definitely not buying undies any time soon.
Becky Gant Burns –
I really like these. I made the low rise in an XL. I used the band option with the gusset. They finished measurments came out as described in the pattern. The instructions were well written and easy to follow. I have a lot of nylon that came to me. It wasn’t a suggested fabric, but I did make an extra pair using it. I wouldn’t work well for the bands and with the diminished stretch, I would suggest using the next larger size up and current elastic.
Amelia Keating –
Quick and easy pattern with so many options! A great way to use up scraps of fabric I love!
Lisa Giorcelli –
This is such a quick sew that produces some seriously comfy undies!
Sarah Miller –
This pattern is a super easy and quick sew! It has many options to choose from to fit your style! From cutting the pattern to finishing a pair took me less than an hour.
Leah McGrath –
This is such an simple pattern and can be easily completed in a day. I love the fit!
Deb Carpenter –
“A straightforward and easy sew for an advanced beginner! The pdf was easy and quick to tape together and the garment came together easily and fitted perfectly.
I made mine in cotton lycra fabric and will be making more! “
Jaime Casselbury –
This pattern was well written and easy to understand. I loved the quick -glance cheat sheet option (as I have made underwear before and understand their basic construction) but no worries for the beginner underwear sewist! There are in depth directions which cover every possible finishing option (with lots of photos). Great pattern!
Liz Faber –
These underwear may be called “basic“ but they could be called “comfy”, “quick” or “perfect”.
I don’t know why, but I never thought of making my own underwear. Now I have, I won’t go back to buying overpriced underwear from the shops! This pattern is clear with lots of options to truely make your own pair of perfect undies. “
Jill Cook –
Never made underwear before. Very simple easy pattern . Good fit and very comfortable . Going to make them for my daughter. Would love a child’s version
Leanne Molini –
I found the fit and the sew to be very clear. I used the band for the legs and waist. There is no pulling are digging in.
Cristy Alexandra –
Simple, fast sew with easy to follow instructions. Super comfy undies to wear. I’ll be making a lot of these!
Katie Weatherly –
This was an easy sew and a nice way to upcycle t-shirts.
Deborah Kraft –
I did the band version and loved it! So I immediately sewed up a bunch more. Never again wearing anything else 🙂 I especially loved the topstitched finished look with a three way straight stitch. So many colorful options to choose from in my closet now.
SSeem Sing –
Loved it, I need to up size depending type of material used and degree of stretch but overall so cool to be able to make yourself some cute undies!
Amanda Cunningham –
I made the high rise version and absolutely love the feel of them. They are really comfortable except for the gusset which is just a bit too wide. I will be making these again, though. I love being able to create underwear that fits ME.
Rosie Lacas –
This pattern was suuuuuper easy and very versatile with the option of elastic vs bands. I do not have any elastic with me at my current location and it is pretty hard to get with the massive effort of people making masks for the pandemic. I opted for the banded midrise and it worked out perfectly because I had a scrap of jersey left over that I squeezed a set of bands out of. I used a contrasting fabric for the body. The fit was perfect right off the pattern and I did not have to make any changes.
Donna Lowe –
This pattern is a great pattern for beginners. It is also perfect for scrap busting and is very easy. It has many options to play with. I see more of these in my future.
Deb Sendelbach –
These are the best fitting underwear I’ve ever made. They fit even better than store bought. I love all the options available also. I’ve never worked with fold over elastic before but the instructions with this pattern made me feel super comfortable with using this type of elastic. This is a must have pattern for everyone.
Debbie Prince –
The Perfect fit – From pattern to bottom in 20 mins. First time making knickers and certainly wont be the last. much better than shop bought!!
Lauri Meinhardt –
This is my favorite underwear pattern to date! The directions are easy to read and very clear. The pattern is a very quick sew and I love the options. Low, Mid and High Rise, fabric band or elastic bands…you can truly make so many different looks just by changing the rise and band options! My new go to underwear pattern!
Katerina –
It is nice to finally have underwear that fit perfectly 🙂 The instructions were easy to follow and the 4 options allow you to create many unique pairs.
Cassandra Morris –
Really easy sew from start to finish! And far more confortable than any store bought underwear I’ve ever had. May have to make it again!
Nor Aliah Abdul Aziz –
I never thought i could sew my own underwear so easy! Thank you RP!
Elmarie van Deventer –
I have always considered sewing underwear to be just not worth the hard work. This pattern proved me wrong! It was the perfect way to use up some large scraps I have been hoarding and they are by far the most comfy pair of unders that I own! I managed to sew up a whole bunch in just an afternoon and who would have guessed that homemade underwear in geeky prints is exactly the pick me up I needed during lock down !
Jade Angell –
A lovely pattern to sew. These knickers are super comfy, I made the mid and low rise options both with bands. The mid rise was a bit higher than expected, but great if you’re feeling a bit Bridget Jones! The low rise ones are perfect for me. The gusset could be a bit narrower, but all in all a great pattern and a great scrap buster. I will be making man more, that’s for sure!!
Stephanie Springer Leddy –
This was a super easy sew – and that’s coming from someone who normally hates working with knits. I made them in a double-brushed poly and oh my goodness. SO COMFORTABLE! I tried them on when finished and couldn’t take them off because they just felt so soft and comfy. The crotch area is quite wide – definitely a lot wider than any of my other undies – but so far hasn’t been uncomfortable. However if you like a pretty narrow crotch area, you may need to trim it down before sewing these up.
Karla Peterson –
The fit was perfect. Sewing instructions were easy to follow. I used the version with bands since I didn’t have any elastic on hand.
Yolonde Bates –
a very easy pattern to follow. suitable for beginner. great pattern for large scraps
Amy Kosandiak –
I absolutely love the banded option – not only is it comfortable, but it means I can use up more knit scraps if I don’t have elastic on hand.
Sharon Courtney –
Beginner pattern, very easy, perfect scrap buster pattern. Pay close attention to fabric type suggestions to get a good fit.
Cindy Matthijssen –
I love this pattern! I never made myself some underwear before, but from now on I won’t be buying anymore. The fit is great, it feels so much more comfortable then the RTW ones I had. I made all three rises, and I like the mid and high rise most. Picot was a bit tricky for me, first time using it. But the FOE was easy and feels te most comfortable to wear as well. Great pattern!
Tania Watson –
This is a great beginner pattern for anyone new to making underwear. I love the fit they are so comfy.
Sabrina Ropp –
These were awesome and fast, great for knit scraps. I used bands instead of elastic, and they don’t slide or bunch. They are so soft and comfortable.
Priscills Shamulailatpam –
Its very easy to follow the instruction and the fit is perfect. i made with band and love it. thank you for easy and awesome pattern
Abby Villarreal –
This was a quick and easy pattern to use! The different rise options make this a versatile pattern to have on hand. With the options of how to finish off the waist and leg openings, it is easy to customize and work from stash, or spruce them up by using fancy fabric and elastic.
Bridget Taylor –
“I’ve been wanting to make underwear for a while, but kept putting it off. The other reviews on this pattern sold me on the idea of repurposing an unloved skirt and ratty t-shirt (for the gusset lining) into my first pair. It was very easy to cut the fabric and sew, although I’m glad I went with the medium rise option because I think the high one would have been too high for me.
I definitely plan to make more of them and will be keeping an eye out for any fabrics here that I can repurpose into panties! I’m also going to try the fold over option for the elastic instead of the encased style. Oh.. I also made great use of my walking foot. “
Jennifer Schonhaar –
I’ve always had learning to sew underwear on my list of things to learn. I was so excited to try this, and I absolutely loved this pattern. It was easy, and the fit is great. I know others have complained about the gusset being too wide. I get what they’re saying, but the wide gusset has not detracted from my enjoyment in wearing this underwear. I may never buy another pair again.
Melissa D –
Such a quick and easy sew and a great way to use up any scraps of fabric. Best of all though, they are so comfortable.
Shaina Mack –
The ladies basic underwear are far from basic! Love that the pattern allows you to make the underwear exactly as you prefer. Low rise, mid rise, high rise, picot elastic, bands, fold over elastic. This pattern allows you to make a wardrobe of underwear giving you variations to help you get the perfect fit. Pattern is simple and straightforward and comes highly recommended.
Jenny Gomez –
These whipped up quickly and were really comfy. I can’t wait to make a ton!
Maja Rus –
Pattern that I will definitely sew again! Great and simple sew, for anyone who need to use small scrap pieces of fabric and also for those who want to make more elegant piece of underwear to wear with pride 🙂
Susan Pearson –
I always though underwear would be difficult to sew – but this pattern is simple and easy! Instructions were easy to follow, and I am very pleased with the results. Will be making more of these for sure!
Emma Polley –
Great quick sew pattern to make your own underwear – it’s easier than you think!
Victoria Fenner –
This was my first time making underwear, and what a quick fun sew! An awesome way to use up all those fabric odds and ends. I made the mid-rise with bands and gusset options, great for when you don’t have any elastic on hand. They fit perfectly and I can’t wait to make more!
Carmen Brent –
Quick and easy sew! Love all the options for waist and leg bands as well as 3 rise options.
Randie Dodman –
Such a quick, easy sew! Great scrap buster. I will be making many more pairs. I’m going to make some high rise, with power mesh and zorb for post c-section recovery.
Erika Ramsay –
What an amazing pattern. Quick and very simple to make. The fit is awesome, super comfy!
Michelle Mason –
Nice quick scrap buster, very comfy to wear and I did almost all of it on my overlocker, can’t wait to try all the other options.
Sarah Hopkins –
I can’t believe it, I actually made a pair of knickers. Fab pattern with so many options. I made the mid rise with gusset and bands. These are comfy and a perfect fit. I can’t wait or try other elastic options and the low rise. So secure, would make a fab bikini bottom pattern too!
Jessica Kaiser –
Another great stashbuster sew with plenty of finishing options! I enjoyed this quick sew from start to finish. I can see myself making cute matching undies for my summer dresses and I can’t wait to play with more fabric options. This pattern will stay in my regular rotation for sure.
Gabrielle Carisse –
Wow, such a good scrap buster, so fast and the fit is perfect! They really hold well on my bosom, and I love the band option, not need for anything else than scraps!
Jocie Goldman –
The gusset is a little bigger than I’d prefer, and the leg bands are a little thin. But, this pattern is very quick and easy. Perfect for a beginner!
Melinda Cornwall –
Very easy pattern to follow and sew. Great scrap busting pattern. I loved using my new coverstitch machine to finish off – it gave a more professional look. These undies are so comfortable – even if they look massive 🙂
Nadine Simard –
Quick project to use scrap fabric!
Janet Cox –
A quick and easy sew! The most comfortable underwear I’ve worn in a long time, I’m definitely making more in the near future.
Ana miguel –
Easy and quick sew.
Tara Mathews –
Fun and quick sew! I have only been sewing a few months and loved this pattern. Plus my first time using fold over elastic.
Heather Gratton –
This is the easiest underwear pattern I have tried. Such a quick and simple sew, much less complicated than other patterns where I have ended up with inside put pieces!
Amy Joy McDonnell –
This was an easy sew with good instructions and a great scrap buster! I used Cl for all. I measured Small but once made they were too big so I also made a XSmall and the fit was better. The only issue I had was the gusset was a bit wide on me but I believe I am narrower there than most. Just by taking the sides of the gusset in a bit should fix that for sure. Besides that, very comfy underwear and I will adjust and make many more!
Pam Kosirog –
The pattern and the instructions were easy to follow. The measurements were right on for me, I measured in an XL without any adjustment. I made the unlined low rise with the gusset and I used picot elastic. The fit was actually pretty good, maybe just a little baggy in the lower back bottom but that could have been my fabric. I made these out of a cotton knit but I think something with a bit of spandex would work great. I would also use the turned under elastic method next time because I prefer that but I was using what I had on had. I also think I would either use a serger or trim the seams, especially in the area where the gusset was that turned out to be quite thick. Overall I think I would make these again if I could find the right fabric. It was a great pattern and I was impressed with the fit.
Lisa Corriveau –
The basic underwear is a simple, easy to follow pattern with several rise options as well as bands or elastic choices for the leg & waist. I made the low rise bikini style with fold-over elastic & these underwear are already my favourites. The fit is perfect, they don’t ride up at all, & the crotch gusset is a nice generous width–a much better size than most ready-to-wear undies I’ve seen. I’ll definitely be making many more of these.
Hayati Jamil –
Super easy pattern and the fit is perfect for my size. Make me addicted to sew more. I ve sewn 2 so far and definitely want to make more
Kate Dewhurst –
Nice easy beginner pattern particularly if you haven’t sewn with stretch fabrics before. Great scrap buster or a way to up cycle old t-shirts etc…A good variety of options in terms of fit and finish. I recommend making a test pair to get the perfect fit then away you go to make a pair for everyday of the week! ☺️
Jane Whichelie –
Great quick and easy pattern with lots of different options. Found the gusset a little wide with the bands.
Geraldine Tan –
A relatively easy and fast sew! Glad that this was the first piece i started on after a long hiatus. It is a comfortable fit too.
Aune Wood –
So many options with these underwear. Never buy store bought again!
Amber Stefanick –
This was a fun quick sew and great for scrap busting. The instructions were clear and easy to follow with lots of different options.
Ness Dillette –
Really easy to make, even for a complete beginner. This was only the second time I’ve ever sewn anything, it was my first time ever using a knit fabric, and the easy-to-follow instructions made it a total breeze. You don’t even need an overlocker/serger, you can make these on a regular machine. I chose the band option because elastic is a little hard to find at the moment, and they are so comfy and customisable. I’ll be using this pattern again, and again, and again, I’m certain!
Kirsten Olson –
These are the perfect pair of underwear to go on vacation with or wear to bed on a hot summer night. With 3 band options to choose from, as well as three heights there is no longer an excuse to save that old pair that you’ve had forever.
Jenny Olson-Cole –
I think this pattern is really helpful when beginning to work with knits. I have very limited practice sewing with knits, and other than an enclosed elastic on boxer shorts in Home Economics in middle school I’ve never sewn with elastics before! I really enjoyed being able to try new elastic types to find exactly the fit and look I wanted. It is great that the pattern gives you multiple finishing options, and means I will be using this pattern for a long time. These undies sew up quick and because they don’t need much fabric I keep finding old things I was going to throw away, but now will make into new undies!! I’m very happy to be able to upcycle some fabrics and save money on buying things I need anyway! Off to try to make a pair for my teen and another one for myself!
Georgie Vermeeren –
I was really nervous about doing this pattern. This is my first piece of clothing I’ve attempted and without an overlocker which I always thought I had to have. This pattern was SO easy. While my skills require practice (my stitching waa not straight and therefore caused the underwear not to sit flat when finished), the pattern itself was extremely user friendly and was very logical to follow. I liked that there were several options so I could choose which one I thought would suit my skills best. My favourite part of the pattern, was how well the end product fitted and how happy I was to have achieved it! I think this pattern is a perfect introduction to clothing and should definitely be highlighted as a great beginner project.
Tania Vervaeke –
“Very easy to sew, these are perfect for me, ’cause I love the low rise. If you are more a lover of the mid of high rise, these options are available too, so you can sew whatever you want.
“
Rebekah Homer –
Rebecca Page patterns has really come out with a solid pattern here. Sometimes you just need underwear and this pattern fits the bill offering multiple rises and finishing options. I love the versatility, I can use almost any elastic or make bands from the fabric. I also appreciate the wider gusset: no panty creeping where it shouldn’t go. Finally, the versatility of fabric choice makes this a perfect scrap buster as well as wardrobe builder.
Lauren Mills –
These are good basic underwear. I liked the low rise. Mid rise was too high for my preference. Also the crotch was super wide. Wider than any other underwear pattern I’ve used.
Luana Furlanetto –
I never sew underwear before trying this pattern, and I have to say that it was way easier than what I was expecting. I can’t believe I didn’t try before. I sewed a size XS with the option for enclosed elastic. I believe the fabric is a cotton blend knit. It requires so little fabric that I was able to use scraps.
Tiina Norrkniivilä –
An easy pattern with loads of different possibilities to variate! Just check your shelf’s and you just might have everything you need at home. You get a lot of pattern for your money.
Krystyna Czerwiec –
They are so easy to sew, and in 3 versions! With this pattern you will make your own underwear from fabric that you like the most and never again have to buy it.
April Lett –
This is a quick pattern to sew and the fit is perfect! I made the mid-rise and they have a good height that is not too high. They feel good. This is a nice, basic pattern with so many possibilities!!!!
Alexandria Phillip –
This was a super quick and easy underwear pattern. The instructions were very detailed and the options make it easy to have a fun varied collection of nice underwear. Would definitely recommend to someone just starting off making underwear.
Frances Lancaster –
I made two pair from an upcycled pair of pants, and it was so easy and fun! Low, Mid, and High rise options let you pick your personal fit preference, and the pattern includes several ways to finish the edges. My first time sewing underwear and it was surprisingly easy and a great fit. I will probably tweak a few aspects for perfect fit for me, but it’s a great base to have!
Sarah Silverthorn –
I was super intimidated to try something new as I had only sewn with stretch fabric a couple times before with difficulty. But I found the instructions easy to follow and it came together a lot faster and better than I ever imagined it would. Now it’s time to shop for cute fabrics so I can replace all of my panties. ❤?
Sue Glas-Parrott –
What a great pattern to ease your way into making lingerie! This is such a great scrap buster and if you have some small pieces of cherished fabrics you can’t bear to throw out, then this is a pattern you must have!
Kim Cierpik-Gold –
This pattern is quick, fun and true-to-size. I have a hard time with ready-to-wear panties so I was skeptical at first that I would be able to sew a comfortable, wearable and pretty pair of panties. I was pleasantly surprised with how fast they came together and how well they fit. I would recommend choosing fabric carefully, as recovery is critical. I used cotton lycra and the support is perfect while providing a comfortable and sleek undergarment. I highly recommend this pattern.
Renee Hardimon –
The pattern directions were great and easy to follow. The pattern itself is good too but these are HUGE. They made me question if I am really that big while sewing them. They all need to have an adjustment line to account for height as well because the high rise comes up to my breasts as I’m only 5’3″, lol. Otherwise, it is a great pattern.
June Chance Butchee –
You can make your own underwear in any fabric and any color that you want! The best part is that you can use scraps from your other projects. You will never have to buy underwear again!
Lauren Clark Hill –
These were a simple and quick project. If you had told me six months ago that I would be wearing some of the most comfortable underwear of my life and that I had made them, I honestly would have thought you were mistaking me for someone else. These are great and a confidence builder, both in terms of body image and sewing abilities.
Nali Nali –
I sew this underwear with balance fabric from a T-shirt. What a good way to use up scrap and have a matching set too. It is so easy to sew and i love the fit.
Alisha Maria –
“Second review as I initially thought the coverage of the buttocks wasn’t enough but after wearing underwear have been so comfortable to wear and I didn’t even notice them on at all which is fantastic! I recommend topstitching the bands or adjust the band size to be a bit smaller to help them lay flatter but it didn’t bother me at all once I was moving around and wearing them. “
Breana Mayfield –
#LOVE! Seriously comfortable and a quick sew. I’m picky about undies so I’m super happy to have these! The high waist is perfect!
Kristen Wilson –
So comfortable and easy to sew up. Great scrap buster.
Pamela Stump –
Very easy pattern! Fabric stretch and recovery is important in this pattern. 40% stretch is recommended, and excellent stretch recovery is important for good fit. Good bum coverage, comfortable. Several band and elastic options – and the self fabric bands are great for when there are elastic shortages. Choose from gusset or full lining, and from low, mid, or high rise options. I suggest making one pair all the way through to judge fit and make any changes necessary…then make yourself a full wardrobe of basic underwear! Mix and match fabric and bands for even more options. Recommend for beginner on up.
Angel Pooley –
Great underwear pattern, it’s the first time I’ve tried to do underwear and it is definitely one to up your precision. I will be making more and it will definately make my precision with sewing better.
Harriëtte Aertse –
Great and easy patron to start sewing with and it fits great
Alejandra –
Easy pattern to work with and use those scraps lying around.
Katka v Katka –
Such an easy and quick to sew pattern. I definitely love It and will be maliny more for my family.
Charlotte May –
“I made both the high and low rise with picot elastic, and fully intend to try the mid rise and bands options.
These fit me surprisingly well! I can be quite difficult to fit, with considerable difference between waist and hip. I noticed other sewers having to reduce the gusset width, however the width was perfect for me, I wouldn’t reduce it at all.
I have rated this intermediate due to the stretch fabric and elastic, but it is more of a ‘beyond beginner’ in my mind, a very approachable stretch pattern.
I can easily see this becoming a go-to staple sew.”
Tina Marie Baber –
This is an A+++ Pattern. By Far The best fitting underwear I have ever had. I love the simplicity of this pattern. I Love the fit, I found these to be more comfortable than the underwear that I have bought in the store. I generally dread store bought underwear they just don’t fit right or they hang uncomfortably. I plan to make more of the Basic Underwear from Rebecca Page.
I found them comfortable, they fit well and I have no issues with them being ill fitting. Let me repeat “”I LOVE these
More Material is on the way to make the basic underwear in the mid rise and low rise as well as more high rise. “
Hannah Bnana –
Pretty easy to make, gusset a bit too wide for me but some people like them like that! I like the various rise options.
Loesje Shema –
It went very well, and I got to use my brand new serger to make it. Fun!
Gabriella Hägglund –
I have tried to sew underwear before, but never liked the fit, until now. My basic underwear (medium rise) is now my favorite that I have used as much as possible. And love that I will save a lot of money
Jessica Reeves –
Being newer to sewing garments for myself (I have made clothes for the kids for a while) and not liking to work with knits, I found the pattern very easy to follow. It had several different options as far as fit and finish which I loved. The directions and pictures were very thorough and helpful. I will definitely be making more of these in the future. They are so comfortable and fit amazing.
Rebeka Homer –
This thong pattern is pretty epic. I’ve made two so far (a mid rise with bands and a low rise with enclosed elastic), and was surprised at how comfortable a thong could be. I also love the included rise options and the finishing options. It’s great to be able to use elastic, or foe, or bands, or picot elastic AND have the directions for doing so. It’s a fairly quick sew, though depending on the finishing option it can more or less time (bands super quick, elastic adds sewing time). I look forward to wearing them and adding more to my underwear rotation.
Catherine Murdock –
Easy sew! Very comfortable to wear , will be making more !
LeighAnn McDermott –
Such an easy project for beginners. What’s better than making your own undies?
Bracken Thompson –
“Love this pattern. I made the unlined version with gusset. I have looked for a thong pattern for years. There are very few thong patterns available to sew and this one is brilliant and very comfortable to wear, though I might try going down a size for my next pair..The pattern goes together easily even if you have never sewed pants before ( I made one previous attempt a while back which was not a success).
Everything fits well. I did use a walking foot as directed, which I think helped loads. I found the photo directions helpful for my first attempt though will probably not need them next time. My only regret is down to my own sewing, not the pattern – I did not pre-finish the raw edges. Its optional but next time I will do that. I also used two different threads due to lack of blue thread and although they look the same next to each other when sewn up you can see the difference ( on the inside). The outside has an embroidery grade sewing thread though which I think looks good. I used a multi-stitch zigzag ( I do not know what the stitch is called) to sew except for the side seams and the first gusset seam joined to front and back (which is enclosed), which were overlocked. I intend to make dozens of these. This is just a really nice pants pattern!”

I used a T-Shirt weight cotton Jersey with bands option and they were the simplest sew I have done in a long, long time. They are so comfortable and had to make no fit adjustments from the pattern as drafted
Courtney Palmer –
I made mine with the optional bands and gusset for my first one, came together super quickly, amazingly comfortable and I can’t wait to make more!

Super quick and easy pattern! And the final product is really comfy too…I don’t usually like to wear thongs, but these are so comfortable and easy to whip out that I might have to start wearing more!
Becky Gant Burns –
These things sewed up very easily. I used measurements from both granddaughters and my daughter to decide on sizes, XS, Small and XL. The finished measurements were as described and fit well. I used Z cotton gusset in all pairs I made. For four pair, I used a light weight Lycra. For 2 pair, I used a lightweight cotton stretch fabric.
Amanda Humbert –
This pattern is super easy to grade and make fit perfectly for those with “hip dips” like myself! This pattern is most definitely a must have.
Alba Gallifa Hurtado –
Sewing the basic thong has been really easy. I’ve chosen size xs with low rise in a cotton fabric. I didn’t had enough elastic so I’ve ended with bands of the same fabric in legs and in hips. I am still a beginner in Rebecca’s patterns so I take a while before sewing trying to choose the best size but the info is very completed in the instructions so you make it so easy. I love that you also give the size of the elastic. Great tip!Gracias
Thank you very much for this opportunity.

The basic thong is a fantastic versatile pattern for thongs! I made mine with fold over elastic and bamboo lycra scraps of a Toronto Tee. It came together easily and quickly, and the finish is very professional looking. What a comfortable garment!
Katie Weatherly –

Amazing and easy thong pattern! From start to finish this took me an hour, including printing and taping. Very stylish with lots of options. Coming from a person who wears 5x and has a hard time finding anything remotely sexy or comfortable- this pattern is an A++.
Emma Polley –
Great quick sew, if you ever thought sewing your own comfortable undies was hard, you’re missing out!

Amy Joy McDonnell –
Fun and easy sew. I chose the low rise option with elastic lace waistband and FOE leg bands. I was a little confused how to attach the FOE (it was my first time sewing it) but asked on the BA page and was able to figure it out. I have been wearing them all morning and they are really comfortable. I was surprised as I haven’t worn a thong in years. The fit is good and I am very happy with these!
Elmarie van Deventer –
If you’re anything like me, the last few weeks have been insane. Luckily, this is such a quick pattern that I was able to whip up 2 in only an hour. Such great instructions and wonderful instructions on using different types of elastics!

This is a quick sew and the pattern goes together quick. Very simple, well-written tutorial accompanies the pattern and this would be a good place to start for beginner sewists. There are several options of finishing methods included in the tutorial. If you don’t have elastic, you can use fabric bands; if you have elastic you can use it; if you have picot elastic you can use that; if you have FOE you can use that. Versatile pattern for your preference or what you may have on hand!
Maja Rus –
Awesome pattern!! I had so much fun sewing the first that I immediately decided to make not just one but five of them ????? I’m very pleased with the result 🙂

Bridget Taylor –
“This is an easy pattern for a thong, the hardest part was waiting on the elastic to come through the mail! I would suggest for beginners to be careful to use fabric that’s easy to work with and then branch out into the more fiddly stuff. I had a few hiccups with my fabric choice, but wanted to use up some scraps and I love the light pink sparkles.
I definitely think this is just as easy as the basic underwear pattern. Once you realise how many pairs you can make from scrap fabric, you’ll never want to pay full price for them at a shop again! Super easy and the measurements were spot on. “
