“This beach bag is perfect for hauling ALL the stuff! Our family of 6 fits everything we need into the large sized bag. It’s also very easy and quick to sew; especially if using snap-on drapery grommets for the handles!”

I loved this project. It is easy and fun. It took no time at all to sew. I am not much of a beach person, but this will be perfect in the car with all our odds and ends when we go on vacation.
Pam OFlynn –
The beach bag pattern is so easy and the results are amazing! The bag is huge, will hold everything you need for a trip to the beach!
Gabz Jefferson –
This bag is super easy to make. I enjoyed making it and will definitely make more! I recommend this to beginners out there.
Adelle Pears –
This bag will definitely take everything you need for a family day out and probably a bit more!! It’s a pretty quick sew with excellent instructions. I did the small size with the key tab. My first time putting in grommets!
Heather Luben –
When it comes to beach bags, capacity matters! Even the “small” bag can hold enough towels, toys, snacks, and sunscreen for the whole family! Add the inside pockets if you want to be organized, and the long key-ring tab to easily find your keys amongst sandy towels and discarded hats at the end of the day. A simple sew, with a bit of experience helpful to tackle the large grommets needed for the handles, but the extra effort is worth it!
Chiara Kruse –
The perfect tote for a day at the beach with optional pockets and a leash for your keys. The large size easily accommodates a family. I’ll be using the small size to carry my knitting and mending projects around, keeping everything organized with 8 interior pockets.
Diane Cullum –
Cute bag and really huge! Perfect beach bag sizes! The basic bag construction was easy. The pockets were confusing so I didn’t do them. Pocket A and Pocket B sounds like two different and separate pocket options. I was told that is not the case. This should be clarified with different wording and labels. The lining on my bag seems too big and wants to puff out the top. It’s also kind of stiff from the interfacing. I wonder it it’s from the batting. I used a high loft as recommended, but wonder if it is the right stuff. I do like that the bag stands up on it’s own. The topstitching around the top edge was making the bag want to tip out and over at that edge. I ended up adding another row of stitching a bit further down (about 3/4″) and that helps a bit. So I have 3 rows of stitching at the top edge now that the bag is done. I might even need to switch the knots on the rope ends to the inside to prevent them from also making the bag top want to tip out.

Extremely easy and useful! I could fit my 3 year old daughter in the large bag. It is super quick. The longest part was putting on the grommets and ironing on the interfacing. I love it! I cannot wait for summer!
Loraine Wilkinson –
Great bag. Large enough to carry all your goodies.
Connie Lusto –
This bag is one of my favorite sews ever! It’s an easy and quick project that’s perfectly finished inside and out, and even the small size is big enough for all of my little guy’s beach toys! I embroidered my initials on the outer layer before assembling, and absolutely love how it turned out.
Sarah Hopkins –
Another great bag pattern from the RP team. As mum I carry so much to the beach and even the small bag has loads of space for picnics, suntan lotion, towels, books etc. Easy to follow instructions, so happy with my bag!!
Lieve Cox –
It is a quick and easy sew with a fabulous result. It looks storebought, but is handmade. Due to lack of time, I made the version without pockets, but I intend to make another with all the options.
Lisa Papaleo –
This is such a fun pattern and created a really strong and sturdy bag that will be great for carrying around our beach supplies!
Frances Tilden –
A quick sew and a great sized bag to hold everything when going to the beach.

This pattern yielded a super large bag- perfect for packing up my family of 6 for a day of swimming.
Betsy Koestler –
The small size holds 3 towels and is the perfect tote.
Carrie Rudy –
The small beach bag is a quick sew and a great size! I sewed this up in an afternoon and I was able to fit 6 child size beach towels in the bag! I can’t wait to make more as gifts for my beach/pool loving friends and family!
Stephanie Springer Leddy –
This was a really fast sew – I think I spent more time cutting & applying interfacing than actually sewing! It’s a very simple pattern with lots of potential for making it “fun.” The beach bag really lends itself to decorative stitching, embroidery, or other embellishments! It’s a nice size; the small easily holds 3-4 beach towels and will be great for taking my kids to the pool this summer.
Amanda Schildmeier –

Rebekah Homer –
This is a large bag with great storage pockets on the inside. I loved the fun rope feature, even my husband thought it was super cool. I made it with a waterproof canvas and nylon ripstop and 1 inch cotton rope. Construction was fairly easy, though it definitely was crazy trying to maneuver the large bag in my tiny sewing space lol!
Jamie Adler –
Summertime begs for this beach bag pattern to be made! So easy to sew and a great big bag for all beach toys and towels, even the small version is large enough to hold a day’s items!
Michele Axmaker Chapman –
What a fun pattern! Love this bag. Sewing together is so quick and fun!
Jessica Kaiser –
Need storage for all your beach gear? This bag is for you! Comes together super quick and even the small bag is enough to tote around all your beach accessories!
June Butchee –
The Beach Bag pattern is a must-have. You can use it in so many ways. There are 2 sizes and instructions for pockets and a key tab. It is so quick to sew up!
Debbie Groves –
Easy bag to make. The small is large enough to hold so many things, I will be getting a lot of use out of it this summer!
Tina Marie Baber –
This Pattern was a Fun and Easy Sew. The Beach Bag is a Beginner Friendly Pattern. The pattern pieces are marked clearly the instructions are easy to read, understand and put together. The Beach Bag Pattern can be used for many other things for people who have a preference for dry land. Examples would be a shopping bag, everyday carry along, reading bag, picnic bag, sewing, crochet or knitting bag, toy bag, a hamper or even as a bag to help organize pet toys. My granddaughter has decided she needs one to be used as a hamper in her room. She says that when it is full she can carry the bag to the laundry room, wash, dry, fold and take the clothes back to her room all in the same bag. I will be making several more of these bags to be given as gifts. Very nice practical and useful pattern. Very Versatile. I Love the Beach Bag!

This can be a very quick sew or a more elaborate one, depending on all the extras you choose. Either way, you end up with a pretty bag that is also spacious. I made the small one and it fits the towels/sunscreen/water bottles for 2 people comfortably!
Pam Kosirog –
The pattern was easy to follow, instructions and pictures were clear and easy to understand. I had issues finding fusible fleece locally and the right rope for the handles. The combination of the fleece and the interfacing gives the bag lots of body and helps it keep it’s shape. I am not a beach person but I love bags and this one will make a cute shopping bag!
Sonia Barberet Debove –
I sewed the small one, and it is enough to go to the beach, i can carry a lot and a lot 🙂
Susan Pearson –
Great pattern – cute bag – very functional!
Juliana Garibaldi-Appelhof –
The easiest and most lovable bag to sew and use. You can use it to go to the beach, shopping, gym, picnic. The beach bag is a versatile and multi-use bag.
