Don’t be afraid to give it a go. It looks fantastic once made & is a fun project piece.

  2. Carly Connell (verified owner)

It is a great jacket and the instructions were very easy to follow.

  3. Christina Gossard (verified owner)

It is a very well written and designed pattern, fully lined, no exposed seams, and it has a perfect fit. You can make one for spring and another for winter. I know i’m planning on one for each of my boys to wear this winter.

  4. Colleen Geabler (verified owner)

Very sturdy jacket, fully lined, and wonderful pattern instructions!

  5. Dale Eva (verified owner)

It is so worth it! It’s an adorable jacket with so much versatility for any season. And it is just too cute on!

For a gender neutral coat, that can be easily ‘boyed’ or ‘girlied’ up and sewn to be either a light coat, heavy coat or rain coat, overall it was a relatively simple coat and can be sewn on the most basic machines with a good size coverage and a matching mummy coat in the same style. It would be a good pick.

  7. Johanne-Julie Lapierre (verified owner)

This coat is a perfect versatile pattern. We can sew spring, autumn or winter coat only by changing the fabric. Many details, perfect fit. Amazing tutorial with lots of precisions and explanations.

  8. Kim Mengden (verified owner)

I love how quickly it sewed up. It took me longer to cut the fabric (PUL is a slippery devil) than it did to sew the shell.

  9. Stephanie Jarrell (verified owner)

    Very unique and excellent outcome.

If you’re an advanced seamstress you will be able to put this pattern together easily, relatively quickly and produce an awesomely unique coat… If you consider yourself at a more intermediate level or advanced beginner, you can STILL put this pattern together and produce an awesomely unique coat as your hand will be held throughout and you will be ‘Oh so proud’ when you have finished!

I never dreamed I would make a coat for my daughter but with the Amsterdam coat pattern it has become a reality! The instructions and pictures were very detailed and clear making it really easy to follow and complete. The sizing is spot on and the results are fantastic – people can not believe that is a handmade item!
