What are the easiest sewing patterns to use?
The very easiest sewing patterns to use are those with mostly straight lines, and not very many pattern pieces. So if you’ve never sewed before at all, start with something simple like a headband or a pillow case. Then once you are more familiar with how your sewing machine works and how to follow a pattern, branch out into anything that is labelled beginner.
Are sewing patterns free?
Some sewing patterns are free, and some are not. Generally most designers have a few freebies they put out so you can try their work and see if you like their instruction and drafting style. Then once you’ve decided you love them, you can go browse the rest of their paid patterns to find the exact pattern you are looking for.
How do you print out sewing patterns?
Each sewing pattern will come with instructions on how you print it out. Usually you can print the instructions on a home printer. For the USA and Canada, you want to look for the pattern pieces file labelled US or US letter. For the rest of the world, look for the file labelled A4. These formats will print at home on a regular printer. Make sure to follow the instructions and check that 100% (or no scaling) is selected. That way the pattern piece will print the correct size. If you don’t want to or can’t print at home, you’ll also find an A0 format on most patterns so you can send it to a printer and have it printed in large format.
