“My daughter loves to dress up, so this was a perfect choice for us. I love the option of modesty panels on the front and side as my daughter is still young and more comfortable with coverage. The optional horsehair braid gives a great poof to the skirt. This is a timeless classic design that can be made in all different fabrics to give it a different look. Plus, it’s free!” – Kelle Lujan

“A stunning dress! Phoebe will make you look and feel like the goddess you are. Flattering on all sizes. Plus, invisible zips are really not as hard as you imagine, I promise.” – Zoe Lawson

How hard will this be to fit to my personal shape?

The Phoebe really is a surprisingly easy sew! We had testers of a variety of shapes, sizes and abilities try the pattern. There are a few adjustments you might want to do to get a perfect fit depending on your body shape, but they’re all described in the fitting notes.

Bust adjustments – There is a complete free Full Bust Adjustment (FBA) and Small Bust Adjustment (SBA) tutorial for how to adjust for a larger or smaller bust sizes.

Interlining – If you wish to wear it without a bra, there is an optional interlining for additional support in the adult sizes. If you haven’t used interlining before, this is simply another layer of firm or medium-weight fabric you baste inside the garment to give it some structure (if you can sew in a straight line and a curve, you can add interlining!)

Muslin – We highly recommend you start by making a muslin (test garment out of inexpensive fabric) for the bodice part of the dress. This means you can try the top on and check for any adjustments you might want to make before cutting out your good fabric. Body shapes can differ person-to-person enormously and it’s a quick and easy step that means you can have complete confidence in how your final garment will look and feel.
